Tired of failure

Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself and let you know a little about me.

I have been overweight for 12 years and I am tired of failure. I happened to stumble upon this forum and felt like it would be a good place for me to get inspiration, encouragement and support. I do have hypothyroidism and think my metabolism has slowed because of it. But the truth is I haven't had the best eating habits these last few years and it's all just catching up

I recently purchased a treadmill and workout dvds online.. been doing them for a week and have lost less than two pounds. Ugh.. It's very frustrating to work that hard, to lose that little. However, something has to give I can't continure on this path.

I am sad when I look in the mirror. Not only for what I see, but for what I have lost. I have allowed my obesity to rule my life. I don't want it to anymore.

I am here to make a life change.

:)

Welcome!

two pounds a week is a normal pace. Are you also dieting?

I've found that exercise is only half of it: if you don't put it in your mouth you don't have to work it off!

Hello,
I hear you...tired of it, too. You should be proud of yourself for exercising and making better choices. You are in for a life change, and you are taking steps to do it. 2 pounds is a healthy loss, but even without the two pounds, you are reaching your goal to live a healthier lifestyle!

Exercise makes you more hungry. I would now look at what you are eating. But as the other ladies said, 2 pounds is a great start. Just think - were you gaining 2 pounds a week? Slowly on, slowly off is the healthiest and best way to get and stay where you want.

:wel3fc: Hi mtloser!
So many of us can relate to what you posted - we have been there (or are now) and have felt the frustration, despair and fear of failing yet again. But we have all met here because we are ready for change and have decided to start a new way of living. You're already off to a good start -good luck with your goals - we'll all be here to cheer you on!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different plans to help you choose the right one for you and get you through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! :df:

Hi mtloser,
I'm new here myself. I know how you feel! Trust me.
You've decided to do something about it, and that is the first step.
Losing weight slowly is the best way to go about it.
Good luck with your weight loss, and instead of feeling sad when you look in the mirror, remember that this is the biggest you will ever be and smile!
