Excited to find this website today!

Hi, I'm Becky and sooo excited to be here. I am getting ready to go to have a long overdue physical and prepping to hear I need to start a diet. I was looking at some info on Dr. Oz and Biggest Loser and found this website!

I grew up a skinny kid and did not put on the pounds until my 30's. I have slowly added about 5 a year and now I am miserable. I did not grow up exercising so that is hard to do. I started walking this week an hour and a half each day and that is my first step. I hated to give up my 5 day a week splurge of a large Dr. Pepper while heading to the school to pick up my son from soccer. I switched to unsweetened ice tea so that is a bit better on calories. Now I go to the park next to his school and walk the entire practice. This is a huge accomplishment.

I am excited to learn what everyone has done. I plan to just do it the old fashioned way of healthy diet and exercise. My goal is December 2010, I will be in the 150's and see what I need to do from there. Because I am so tall I may adjust and go by clothing size instead. Right now I wear XL tops and 14-16 pants. I really need to lose around the middle, it is my belly that is big. I am excited to "meet others" here. :)

Hello and welcome! I am glad you are joining us!

I predict that the two changes you have already made (cutting out the soda and walking) will make a big difference. I am a walker, too, and it has been tremendously helpful on my weight loss journey.

Cheers,

J

Thanks everyone for the great welcome. I just got back from my physical and I am ready to really work this body into shape. My cholesterol is outrageous TRI:297, LDL:180, Total:284, so I was put on Zocor and Niaspan. I hate taking long term meds, hopefully this will help do the trick quickly because I do not want to stay on them long.

:wel3fc: Hi Becky!
Sounds like you're ready to go with a good plan and the determination and can-do attitude to reach your goals - good luck!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different plans to help you choose the right one for you.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! :df:
