in trouble

Hi Everyone!!!

I am big time weight trouble. I am 49 years old , weigh 271lbs. and have a 43.7 bmi. I can't believe I am here. But I am and I am ready to start living again. This has seriously impacted my energy and my life.

I am a binger, a happy eater, a sad eater, an anytime eater. I have been this way all my life but kept my weight in check until after my first child. So four children later here I am. I have done weight watchers many many times.

Help!!!

Welcome and good luck ! You have taken the first very important step. There are many different diet programs ,besides WW . I feel like I have tried them all. I finally decided on calorie counting as it carries over into maintenance. Others like WW, South Beach, Atkins and others. Choose the one that you will do. It's OK to experiment until you find what workd best for you.

:welcome:

i say go simple, find your BMR (you can google it) and get an idea how many calories you burn a day just being you and then count calories keeping to that number.

I don't know how tall you are, but if you are 5'5" your bmr is right around 1900

Nothing is off limits and it is easy to count, you should get an idea in a few weeks how to tweek that number based on how you are losing. a good way to divide your calories is to deduct 300 for snacks , then divide the leftover by 3, and you should find a way to start with how many calories per meal.

1900-300=1600/3=533

Also, get moving, if you don't already, walk in place, get a dvd or pop on your sneekers and go for a walk.

you can do this and we are all here to help...good luck

Hi, Beth. You've chosen an excellent place to find support. Personally, I've found that jumping into a challenge is a great way to hold myself accountable. That, and every day, sometimes multiple times a day, I confess in the Daily Food and Exercise Confessions thread. Accountability is really important to my success, without it, I have a tendency to procrastinate. Another great resource is the success stories and before/after pictures. They're so inspiring.

I agree with the ladies above me. Counting calories is simple and effective. The big thing is be honest with yourself. Any thing you consume counts. Another thing to be aware of is you'll likely see people at a similar weight, height, and age floating around the forums who consume more or less calories than you do and still lose. It is important that you not compare your intake to theirs. Every body requires a different amount of fuel so find what works best for you. And work out. Love it or hate it, it's good for you and a vital key to permanent success.

Welcome and we're glad to have you!

Hi Beth,
I am new here too, and am also a happy, sad, mad, glad, and everything else eater. I've been looking at all the resources available here and think that this site can really be a great resource for people like us that are ready to do something, but need support. Good luck on your weight loss journey!

:wel3fc: Hi Beth! (I'm an all around anytime eater, too))

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are lots of people here with more to lose and lots with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome aboard - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

Welcome!

Having kids can really throw you for a loop! I only had one, but as an adult I had managed to keep my weight swings within the normal range until I had her.

It's time to make time for yourself, not only for your own happiness, but so that you can be your best for your kids as well.

Find a plan that you think might work for you try it out... good luck with your goals!
