Hi!
Hey!
I decided to start posting here after reading a very loooong thread on the bodybugg/ GoWear Fit because I got mine today and I am very very excited. I have a very long history of dieting. I even went to therapy for a year for binge eating disorder. I learned what I need to do to avoid a lot of emotional eating, but now I need to get back in shape. I just finished 6 weeks of P90X and GAINED over 10 lbs, and I don't think a lot of it was muscle, although some was. I think my issue is lying to myself about my caloric intake and how much I am burning. That is why I got the GoWear Fit. Now I can track exactly how much I burn a day and track my calories - with a food scale- to get a very clear and honest deficit. I lost 17 lbs in high school once using fitday, but it never really worked again for me. I am also on SparkPeople, but it doesn't seem to work very well for me, either. I like having a community, but it is almost too much stuff on there. I think it would be good to track my food and calories burned with GWF and then chat on here with you all. I have hypothyroidism now, and I gained weight before (and after) I was diagnosed. I never got under 130lbs with hypo. My goal now is 123lbs. Maybe now that I am medicated for it I can reach it. My husband is going on deployment with the military soon, so I will have some months to work hard and get in shape while I get through that time. Hopefully I can find some cool people to talk with on here! :) |
Welcome to 3FC and good luck with your goals.

Hello, Bethany. You've chosen an excellent place to find support. Personally, I've found that jumping into a challenge is a great way to hold myself accountable. That, and every day, sometimes multiple times a day, I confess in the Daily Food and Exercise Confessions thread. Accountability is really important to my success, without it, I have a tendency to procrastinate. Another great resource is the success stories and before/after pictures. They're so inspiring.
As a side note, personally, I do use Fitday in combination with 3 Fat Chicks. It keeps track of the calories I've consumed but I come here to report in and get all of my support. Welcome and we're glad to have you! |
:wel3fc: Hi Bethany!
Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There are lots of people here with more to lose and lots with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way. I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up. So welcome aboard - it sounds like you have a good plan and a great attitude for success - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! |
Hi and welcome!
It sounds like you are really getting all your ducks in a row... getting a handle on the hypothyroidism, tracking your food and exercise... and joining 3FC! Good luck with your goals and won't hubby be surprised when he returns :) ?! |
