Hello, all!

Hi. I really hate doing these introductions, but nonetheless, you have to start somewhere, so this seems like a good enough place to do that. :)

I'm joining you all, sort of in media res, as I've been plugging away at this diet lark for about fourteen months, and as of this morning, I'm just shy of 150 pounds lost. Back when I first sucked it up and stepped on the scale, and saw the horrifying number, I set my FitDay goal for 195, because it seemed vaguely possible. Very vaguely. ;) And as I've gone along, I've been increasingly convinced that's not going to be where I settle, which for my height is around ten pounds overweight, but I'm leaving it as my goal for now, because I just want to accomplish what I set out to do, and then I'll decide what the next goal will be.

I'm 42, married with two cats, and have been obese or morbidly obese most of my life, and finally had enough of it. I am so done with being fat, and now I'm just working towards making my body match up with my mind. I'm also pretty badly in need of contact with people who are going through the same process that I am, and I look forward to getting to know you all & participating in your community.

:wel3fc: Hi catherinef!
First of all, congrats on the amazing weight loss you've achieved so far - I can completely relate to your story - it is incredibly similar to mine.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are lots of people here with more to lose and lots with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome aboard - so join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

Greetings, Catherine! You've chosen an excellent place to find support. Personally, I've found that jumping into a challenge is a great way to hold myself accountable. That, and every day, sometimes multiple times a day, I confess in the Daily Food and Exercise Confessions thread. Another great resource is the success stories and before/after pictures. They're so inspiring.

We have lots of different people, but one thing I find in all of them is they are very supportive. Those who are just starting out and those who have already lost a lot of weight. You've got a great support system now. We'll help you reach your goals.

Welcome and we're glad to have you!

Welcome! You're doing great... congratulations on your progress so far!!!

I love the support on 3FC and I'm sure you will too. :) We are all on the weight loss/management journey together. There are plenty of cat lovers in the forums, and I'm sure there are other interests you will share, as well as weight management.

Good luck with your goals!
