Hi!! I am new here --- 5'6 178lbs. Goal 130

  • Hi everyone,

I have gone on diets and exercised but I just have not been able to stay consistent. Either I see no results and get anxious in 2 weeks or so and give up. Or if I see results in 2 weeks or so and lose like 3-5lbs I go on a break which never ends.

SO I am off and back on again.

    This is terrible.

My biggest problem is sweet tooth. I love sweets. Not candies but real deserts. It really sucks. Its like I eat desert 3 times a day.

    I am 5'6 and 178 lbs. I am 24.

AND I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT BY NEW YEARS.

I have set a mini goal for myself which is 10 pounds per month.

I need lots of motivation and I joined this forum so I can talk to people who are in the same boat as me. Girls who are around my weight and height especially and seeing their journey will help motivate me.

I started the gym yesterday but my stamina has hit rock bottom because I was really sick for 2 week recently. WHich sucked every ounce of energy from me.

Please message me or add to friends. I would love to hear from you and we can motivate each other.

For all those who are setting a 20 pound goal until new years and especially if your are around my weight I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND HOW?

    Thanks for reading everyone
  • Hi Sweettooth.

I joined this week so I'm new too but I'll tell you what I'm doing.

I exercise regularly. I swim five mornings out of the seven and, if time permits, I'll walk or cycle in the evening.

I joined WW three weeks ago and so I'm following the points system on that. I feel I need to be weighed weekly by someone else; that way I can't hide and I get the cold hard facts instead of seeing what I want to see. Also the class is great craic. We pick up tips that worked for others and also have a laugh about things that didn't. So maybe consider joining a weight loss group.

One thing about the gym - if you can get an instructor to work out a fat burning programme for you then do so. Otherwise, if you work with weights you will build muscle which weighs heavier than fat and when you don't see results on the scales then you could get disheartened. That's a tip I picked up at WW last week, by the way.

Good luck and I'm sure we'll talk soon.
  • Welcome to 3FC and good luck with your goals.

    Hugs
    Michelle
  • Hey!

Have added you to my buddy list.. I joined yesterday, am 28 female, 5'7 and although I haven't weighed myself recently (I don't have a scale... probably just as well!!) I'm guessing at the moment my weight is about 13st / 182lbs.

Have dieted on and off pretty much as far back as I can remember and like you, have set a goal to shift a stone or so (14lbs) before new years.

Am following the Mediterranean diet. Basically whole foods, fish, and moderate alcohol.

    Lets help each other!

  • Hi sweettooth!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are lots of people here with more to lose and lots with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome aboard - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
  • Thanks everyone. I am excited to be here.
hey cardboardcutoutcat, you should see the thread i started for new years challenge. Its turned out great and there are a lot of people setting awesome goals for themselves for new years.
  • Oh, excellent!

Will take a look for it now

  • Hey just saw your post. I'm 20 years old, and I just joined today. I'm 5'4 around 185lbs and go to UF. I'm not big on the whole weight issue, but more of a jeans size. I'm size 14 hoping to get down to an 8! But I do want to lose 15 pounds by Christmas/ 20 pounds by New Years as well!

Right now I'm just trying to eat healthy/ watch my portions and also keeping a food journal. I also find it helpful to write down what I eat BEFORE I eat it, that way I can stop myself! (still working on this lol)

My bf used "the diet source" my vitamin shoppe once and I'm thinking of buying it online, though still not sure.

I also just got a trainer at my school for exercising so we'll see how that goes!

Deserts are definitely my weakness as well!! Good luck!!

    hey welcome g8torgirl,

sounds like you are all set to go. Good luck with your weight loss journey. I know keeping a journal is a great thing but I am just too busy and sometimes lazy to write down everything I eat. I do however try to keep a track of what I am eating in my mind lol.

well I will add you to my buddy list. You should join some of the challenges that are here. They definitely motivate me to be on track.

There is a new years challenge I started in the 20 somethings thread.

    good luck
