Hello! New to this site today!

Hi Everyone -
I'm new to this site. I am 5' 0" and currently a size 14 and want to get down to a 6 or an 8. I'm not on any special plan, I've just reduced my calorie intake and increased my exercise (easy to do, considering I did NOTHING before!). I didn't choose a special plan because I know I can't do one forever. Making good choices on my own, I can do for the rest of my life. I know it is a mind game, but if I have no "rules" to start with, then I won't feel like quitting if I break one. So, it is fewer calories and more exercise for me. I started on the 12th, and so far, so good. I don't weigh myself, but I do check my measurements. That is really what determines my shape, afterall. So, I'll keep coming here for encouragement and advice. Thanks in advance for the support.

Welcome. I don't do programs either--I calorie count and exercise. Yes, it definitely about finding something you can do the rest of your life.

:wel3fc: Hi nitestar! Sounds like you're off to a good start!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are lots of people here with more to lose and lots with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome aboard - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
