*taptap* Is this thing on?*SCREEECH* Ok, Hi! I'm new here :)
Hi everyone!
My name's Amy, I'm 24, getting married in October (the 24th to be exact) and I LOVE FOOD! Sometimes a little too much, but I'm making a pact with myself, and also, secretly without my fiance's knowledge, between me and my nephew that I'm going to learn how to love food but just in a healthier way. I lost my favorite aunt extremely suddenly when I was in high school due to complications due to her weight. I would like to avoid that (and so would my nephew...well he's only 1 year and 4 months old so I don't know if he completely understands what we've been discussing and plotting but he seems excited about it anyways!) I've also recently realized that I've heard a lot about not depriving one's self of things...I like that idea, except I've almost always messed up the strictest of diets by thinking, "oh I can have just this one thing....or one chip" and eat the whole bag! (Anyone have suggestions on that please let me know :)) Anyways I look forward to making some new friends and hanging out with you. A LOT of the stories I've been reading on here are VERY inspirational! |
Hi Amy and welcome to 3FC!
Good luck with your goals :cheer: Hugs Michelle |
I'm with you...when I try to deprive myself too much the diet never lasts very long.
When I set out to lose my first 10 pounds my goal was to eat 2 fruits and 3 vegetables every day. If I did that, I could eat one scoop of ice cream at night! Pretty simple, and it worked. After the first 10 pounds, I had learned more about healthy eating and switched to calorie counting, which has worked well for me. I wish you all the best! You can do it! |
~WELCOME~ AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS GOALS~
Chips are good ~And I too struggle when there around me....Just do not buy them...Thats the only way to keep from eating them~Even with snack substitutes I wanna munch on them if there in my home.Leave the temptation of them in the store . ~OH & Congrads on the upcoming marriage~I have been married for 16 years now~it has it's ups & downs But Remember the ups and it will last for years to come. |
Hello fellow Wisconsinite! May I ask where you are? I'm in Wausau.
Congrats on your upcoming nuptials and you lifestyle changes! Even with our beer, brat, and cheese diet... You CAN do it! I'm not very good about counting calories, and have decided to stick to just eating foods I know are healthy for me and avoiding ones I know are bad. If you need your daily chip allowance, weigh out single portions and put them in little sandwich bags. That way, you can just grab one portion and stick to that. Best of luck! |
Welcome to the forums. It's great that you joined. Congrats on the upcoming nuptials. My condolences on the loss of your dearly departed aunt. This is my first diet, but I have a history of quitting cold turkey when I have to (tobacco & alcohol).
Don't think of your lifestyle change as depriving yourself of things. Think of it as discovering new likes. I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and my whole world got turned upside down. Instead of focusing on all the things I could no longer enjoy, I decided to focus on finding out what keeps my blood glucose in check and makes me happy. I have faith that you will do well here. This is a great community. |
Thanks everyone! ^_^
