Default Scared of failing...again.

Well, I am here and excited to start a new chapter. I have been overweight for almost 10years now and need to loose 100lbs. It starts with one pound right? My history is full of self sabotage, I don't know if it's fear of breaking down those walls or should I say weight walls. But, I am ready. I deserve this. I just need boosters to keep going! I am worth it! Heather.

Hi Heather and

Wow! I started at the same weight as you, and we have both picked the same goal weight. I may have actually started a little higher, I'm not sure.

Yes, it does start one pound at a time. I lost 1/2 of my weight very slowly over a period of 5 years. (not recommended) The good thing was that I kept going down over those 5 years, not up. I changed alot of bad eating habits (but not all of them) and added exercise.

The better news, is that you got here to start your journey. I would probably be maintaining for several years had I started here. I find this support network to be unlike anything I could have ever imagined.

I think it's a good idea to find a "plan" and stick with it. If it doesn't work out, try another "plan". I picked SB because I didn't want to count calories and I was already eating healthier. It's working for me. Others are very happy counting calories. Honestly identifying your "issues" may help you to find your spot here...sugar, carbs, binging, depression, medical issues...

I think the most important thing is to find a forum to call home and post every day. Some of the age based forums would be a great place to start. After 4 months staying OP, my group knows my ups and downs, and I know they really care about me. It really helps when I'm not getting support at home.

Feel free to send me a Private Message if you ever want to chat. Very important is to hang in there. Sometimes I get off track for a day, but never longer. It does get easier.

Hi Debbie,
Thanks! Wow, same starting weight and same goal!
What is program 'SB'? Congratulations 71lbs lost! Wow, very inspirational.
You are right, I need to figure out a program that works for me. I know my downfalls are night binging and emotional eating. Fighting hypothyroidism, my doctor thinks that I am on meds, the weight will just melt away.....I am still waiting for this melting transformation, I keep looking at my feet expecting a puddle of goo (the actual surprise would be to see my feet! I am trying to do home videos;30lb shed and yoga for now....onwards..Heather
