Hi Everyone :D

  • I'm new to the place as you can probably tell.

My name is Megan and I'm 235lbs. My goal is to be 150 to 155 before June of next year. Partially because I want to join the military and partially cause I wanna be able to wear shorts and not be self-conscious.

I've been overweight all my life. I was wearing size 8 women's clothing by the time I was in 6th grade and plateaued off at 220 after 8th grade. When I moved out of my mom's house and into a friend's I gained more weight. One day I stepped on the scale and it read 255 and I was so shocked I decided to get to the healthy weight for my height by doing anything I could without taking drastic measures.

I cut out sweets and pop out of my diet and I'm down to 240lbs from my June high of 255, but I've plateaued off again. I just recently moved into my own apartment and I have an extremely tight, almost nonexistent budget so I eat mostly at work. (Tim Horton's)

I'm not sure exactly what kind of diet I'm going to do yet, but I have a walking schedule I'm going to start on the 1st so I can start at the beginning of a month instead of somewhere in the middle. As of right now, walking at my leisurely pace it takes me an hour to walk two miles. (Half mile to the park, mile around, half mile back to my house). I want to work my way up so I can start jogging or running it.

Anyways, I look forward to meeting all of you and I hope we can support each other!
  • Hi Megan and welcome !!!

Congrats on the weight loss that you have accomplished so far ! This is an amazing place full of support and you'll love it here.

I know what you mean about having an extremely tight budget, I'm right there with you and it's so hard to eat healthy when you don't have much money. There are some days when I don't think I've even eaten 600 calories (you'd think I'd be skinny) but where there is will, there's a way and you have taken the first step by coming here

I also walk 2 miles a day and it used to take me an hour as well but I'm down to 40 mins and I just started the "C25K" running program and it's awesome. Here's the link to the thread.
