At the starting line

  • Hi everyone. I'm new and looking for additional support. I made the decision to lose weight and become healthier on July 6th. I hired a personal trainer and I have been working out 5 days a week since then. As of yesterday I have gone from 258 lbs to 243 lbs, 15 lbs in 4 weeks. My goal is 135 and I hope to reach my goal by next year.
I am nervous about the upcoming months since I am a teacher and school will be starting up again in a couple of weeks. I hope I can continue my commitment to working out as my schedule gets busier. Right now I work out first thing in the morning but I am changing my schedule next week to 4:00 pm which will be the time I can go once school starts.
How does everyone else fit a workout in when they are really busy. I wake up at 5:00 am and by 6:30 I need to be out the door for work once school starts. I live 45 minutes away from where I work and by the time I drop my kids off at their different school it is 7:45 (which is when I need to be at work). I don't have time to fit in a workout in the morning and I am afraid by the time school is out and I can get to the gym I will be too worn out.
    Any advice?
    Thanks
  • Hi and welcome to 3FC!

I don't really have a busy schedule ( :| ) so I can't offer any advice up there, sorry. But I am sure someone will be along that can

Congrats on your success and good luck with your goals.

    Hugs
    Michelle
  • Fitting workouts in can be tough. Something - that you may or may not want to do - that I would consider is maybe changing your workouts with your trainer to 3 days a week (which is still REALLY good as far as exercising goes) and taking the other 2 days to finish grading papers or hang with your family. That way, you may not feel so overwhelmed and want to just quit altogether.

You could also do workout DVDs at home, or take an hour or so to get a workout in on the weekend.

Just some suggestions. Good luck & CONGRATS on your weight loss so far!! Stay strong!
  • on your weightloss so far!

I also have to get up at 5 in the am because I have to be at work at 6. Some days I get up an hour earlier to do my workout and some days I just do it after work. It's really up to you. If you feel you won't be able to work out afterwards, you may want to get up and do it before work. I know it stinks!

That's a good idea to start changing your schedule now so you have time to adjust. Maybe experiment and get up at the time you would have to on a normal day and then see how you feel at 4? Maybe you won't be so tired after all!

Stay strong and come here often for support!
