I want to do this the RIGHT way for once.

Since this is my first post ever here, I'll go ahead and introduce myself a little.

My name is Christi, I'm 22 and live in Florida. I have a boyfriend and a cat... I live with both. I'm pretty hyper most of the time and I like to clean. Also, I do not like spiders.

Anyway, on to the reason I'm here. I used to weigh 308lbs. I'm now down to 244... however most of it wasn't due to proper diet and exercise. I have had issues with EDNOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified) for about 10 years now. I bounce back and fourth from eating everything, to eating everything then bringing it back up to not eating more than 300 calories a day to not eating anything. I'll gain and lose 15lbs EASILY in a week or 2. I'm sick of it. Not only is it horrible for my body but I'm mentally drained all the time.

So I need to do this the right way... for once and I figured I would try to leave the pro-anorexia sites for a healthier and probably more welcoming alternative. So hi!

Oh and I'm also going to seek out some help for the deeper issues from the ED from a professional. I haven't been able to successfully recover on my own in the past so it probably won't be much different this time. I'm just forcing myself to take some of the first little steps now.

1. Admit it's an issue. (It is. Check.)
2. Join a gym. (Already have everything filled out to join the YMCA tomorrow.)
3. Get help mentally for my ED. (Going to call a local place tomorrow when I get up.)
4. Ask for help and healthy advice. (Hi.)
5. ?????
6. Success!

Sooooo yeah... I hope I'm in the right place and making the right choice.

5. Don't let yourself quit. Ever. Period. End of story. LOL

Oh, and welcome! This is an awesome group to be a part of - take advantage of everyone - they're so helpful and encouraging. Good luck to you, and let us know how everything goes.

That's a good step. =)

I just need to work on not taking the easy way out. My easy way is to stop eating. Or just not caring and eat everything.

Life's not easy and, just like a craftsmen, if I cut corners during 'assembly' the final product won't be as good. So sure, I could spend 5 years doing what I'm doing more and then be flabby and sick OR I could spend 2 years making myself healthy... and be hot.

I just have issues with delaying gratification. Sadly, I know it would take longer to do it the 'easy' way. Weird, huh?

Thanks for the warm welcome, by the way. :-) This does seem like a great place from what I've been reading so far.

Welcome, Christi! Awesome support here, no matter what your size or issues are in dealing with weight. You are to be commended for wanting to take it slow - delayed gratification was always a problem for me as well. Now I wish I had just done the right thing to begin with! I could have been thin and healthy many times by now

Looking forward to seeing you around!

Welcome! :)

ChristiMarie - Welcome... I'm glad you've decided to try it in a healthier manner. You really will find it less likely to fall into that binge type pattern if you're giving our body a healthy amount of calories. While the weight doesn't slide off it will come off at a steady clip if you are mindful of moderate calories and adding in exercise. Anyway the girls here are wonderful help.

I'm sure you'll do great!

You're in the right place. Stick around :)

The #5, while still open (but was supposed to be sticking to it) was mainly a joke since I was nervous when I was writing it. Usually it's used as a business plan like...

1. Buy watermelons
2. Buy a pony
3. Build stable
4. ????????
5. Profit.

Like that it somehow just works. I don't know. I suck at explaining things. lol

i'm right there with you, girl! the only time i've ever lost a significant amount of weight was when I ate only 1000 calories a day... and of course, I gained all the weight back in no time! I'm trying the slow & steady approach.. and planning to keep any weight i lose OFF! good luck!!

ChristiMarie 07-27-2009 07:27 PM

Thank you and good luck to you too!
