Needing a support buddy

Hello my name is Brenda and I am a wife, mother, & grandmother. I am 39 and I have struggled with my weight my entire life and I am just so tired of the rollercoasters. I want to make a life change and be healthy and fit. I lost 60lbs on the Jenny Craig program but once I stopped most of the weight has come back. I have now hired a personal trainer that not only has an exercise plan for me but she also gives me a menu to follow every week and at least that is a start for me. I would love to have some support and I found this site last night and thought just maybe this will be the support I need. If there is anyone out there that would like to go throught this journey with me please let me know. :) Thanks Brenda

You can count me in :)

Awesome! What kind of diet plan are you following?

marbear24 06-24-2009 02:45 PM

I've tried a bunch of diet plans, but I'm super picky about what I eat - so they usually don't work. So I count calories, and excerise in anyway I can get my butt moving. I own an elliptical machine - so that's my default excersie. I hope to start swimming again soon.

In the past counting calories has worked well, so I hope it does this time too :)

I am counting calories as well. I have a treadmill and as soon as we move into our new house in July my husband is setting up a small home gym for me.

emma1101 welcome glad to have you join in with us.

thank you! i hope im successful this time. this failing is getting a little too old :D i have to buy a scale though..any suggestions?

marbear24 06-24-2009 04:08 PM

I'd like one that always reads 150lbs, but alas :). The digital ones are more exact - though a little more painful to look at since there's no "judment" call.

I have a digital one that tracks my weight loss and gain here lately it hasn't been to kind to me LOL but we are all here to change that right. Thanks for all the support I can't tell how motivated I am already with just being here one day. I am so excited about getting back on track and staying on my plan to lose this weight forever.

emma1101 06-24-2009 06:38 PM

me too. what are your guys' plans as far as eating and exercising?

For me, I eat the right foods and count calories. i think i should aim for 1200-1300 to begin with and if i start to drop the weight ill bump up my calories. And for exercise I resistance train 3x week and do a cardio every day whatver it may be. Do you think this would work for me? Im 5'3'' and about 173 (uhg) I used to be thinner and was really athletic played for my basketball varsity team...

Sounds like you have a great plan I am aiming for around 1200-1500 calories a day I am going to play with that and find out what works for me. Still a guessing game at this point. Your exercise program sound great. I do a full body workout 2 days a week and cardio 6 days off giving myself 1 full day of rest. I use resistance bands, a resistance weight machine and I have a treadmill for my cardio.

I use the daily plate to count my calories. I eat a net of around 1600-1700 a day - so the more I exercise the more I get to eat - which is cool. I have blood sugar issues, and if I eat much less than that I become very dizzy and super unpleasant. I do mostly cardio - either walking, or my elliptical. I hope to add swiming to my repertoire.

My husband and I are debating joinging the YMCA - which would give me access to weights and racquette ball courts so perhaps I can have some fun along the way. The Y is very close to my place of employment - so maybe I could swim in the am and lift in the pm. Hmmm...

emma1101 06-25-2009 12:39 AM

i think you should go for it! are you noticing any differences yet? i see your only down 3 but thats great. Do you feel better?

mystical 06-25-2009 12:54 AM

What is the daily plate?

Happy Thursday!

It's a calorie counting website. I like it better than fit day because it plainly shows how many calories I have left, and it's free. I like Calorie King best - and it's wheat I used when I was in college, but now they charge and I can't bring myself to pay for something I can get free elsewhere.

I just got done with the workout on the elliptical. I used the fat burning program, 45 minutes, 3.76 miles, and 466 calories.

Now time for a shower and then the dentist. Eeek :(
