Boy do I need some support.

Hey all,

I decided to join here after looking around for a few minutes and feeling inspired. I am a yo-yo dieter and always have been. Since I had my child, I managed to get myself to 245lbs! It's disgraceful, really. After a month of drastically changing my eating habits and implementing regular exercise in to my life, I didn't lose a single pound and figured I had to be doing something wrong. So as of today, I am following (or going to try to) the Scarsdale Diet in the hopes that the strict meal plan will be exactly what I need. I realize this diet is frowned upon by some, but I'm giving it a try anyway.

My goal weight is 145lbs and I hope to be able to show off myself in the success stories in the future.

That's about it!

Thank you! I sure hope so. My first milestone is to get under 200lbs. My best friend is helping me on my journey and being my long-distance weight loss buddy. Hopefully with her support and the support of this board, I can do it!

:welcome3: You can find lots of support here! I've never heard of the Scarsdale diet, but everyone is different and you have to do what works for you. I'm basically on a Slimfast diet. Shake for breastfast & lunch and then dinner. I'm glad you found this board! Nice to meet you!:)

The Scarsdale Diet is a very low calorie and restricted meal plan that you have to follow precisely in order to get results. A lot of people hate it, and a lot of people have had great success with it. I am making sure to take vitamins daily to boost my health while I'm trying this meal plan. I think I just need something structured like this because when I did try to eat healthy and stay away from fat/sugars etc, I must not have been doing it right because I didn't lose anything.

Sometimes its good to kick start weight loss with low calorie diets, because the initial weight loss is more. Many dieters are more likely to stick to a plan that they really see a difference those first couple of weeks. I know I do. I really see a difference on the slimfast.
You have to do what will help you to stick with it. A multivitamin is also a good idea for any diet.

I hear you on the structure. If I don't have structure with a diet I will slide off the wagon before the hayride even begins! :o

Exactly! I figure if I can get 20lbs off with this, I'll have my momentum to step it up and keep going!

Thanks for your support!

We have the same starting weight and goal weight. I hit 245 after 2 kids and it does feel horrible. But we can do this. I agree that getting under 200 is a great way to start, thats what I am aiming for at this point. Best of luck to you!!

You have to learn to be honest with yourself and your limitations. Visit one of the online sites that will calculate you average daily requirement for calories. This will give you a place to start. To lose 2-3 pounds in a month (3500 cal/pound), you must eat 500 calories/day less. Get yourself an inexpensive digital food scale ($25) and begin weighting everything you eat. Keep a food journal or use Fit Day (online) and enter everything. You need to find that number of calories - for you - that will let you lose weight and the number of calories that will let you maintain your weight.
