Frustrated. And more information.

Hello, all. Again.
I posted last night, but I gave only a little information. So, here's more.
First of all, I'm going to steal some ideas that I saw on another post to add to my Daily4. It will now be the Daily6:
5. Eat for the body you WANT, not for the body you HAVE.
6. Exercise for the body you WANT, not for the body you HAVE.
Good ideas, and they make sense.

I also need to know where you all get the little trackers that are so popular on here. They would be MUCH more fun than this:
CW: 153
GW: 135
PTG: 18 (bleh!)

OK, now comes the vent: why is this whole process so hard and frustrating???? I've NEVER had a problem with my weight until about a year and a half ago. And even now, some people say I don't. But I have a problem with it. And I don't know, quite honestly, what to do about it. It seems to me, sometimes, that I shouldn't have a problem at all: I exercise (not as hard as I should apparently), I eat a relatively healthy diet, I NEVER go back for seconds of ANYTHING, and I don't eat whole pints of Haagen Dazs or pizzas or boxes of cookies in one sitting. So, where am I going wrong?
I know that weight is absolutely an input/output equation, but I can't seem to eat the next-to-nothing that some of you do, which is maybe what it takes to lose anything. But, come on, a carrot stick for lunch? I would die, and be really cranky in the process.

So maybe that's it. I just need to change some of my thought processes. But, really, what do you all REALLY do to make this happen? Can I EAT and still lose?

Thanks,
E

Sometimes it doesn't seem like there is any rhyme or reason to why I lose a lb one week and not the next, but I know that if I give up, things will only get worse (I've been more or less steadily gaining since puberty).

And I definitely struggle with feelings like you mentioned above: I know I only eat as much or less than my thin friends, and I exercise more, and yet I'm still heavy!

But as for the losing, you will get there. I haven't tried it, but I've heard good things about the 30 day shred...maybe you need to follow a set diet?

In the forums, there's a 'forum help' thread that has a link where you can make your ticker :) I'm still figuring things out here too...just figured out how to get my picture to show up.

For the ticker you have to have 20 days and 20 posts I think then it will become available to put in a signature that you can make automatic everytime you post.

As for the dieting part. I eat around 1400 - 1600 calories a day. While it is in/out equation if all that's going in is pizza, fast food, it's going to be much harder because of all the empty calories.

I do believe weight loss is a mental process as much as a physical one. Try journaling for a week or two and then go back and see what/how you're really eating, write down everything you eat, even if it's just a bite. You may be eating more than you think without realizing it and that could be the problem. There are also medical reasons for weight gain, have you had your thyroid checked? Just some ideas. If after the journaling you still feel you're working out and eating right then I would suggest seeing a Dr. to make sure there are no medical issues causing the weight gain.

Hi 'E', welcome to the site!

Weight loss is probably the single most frustrating thing anyone has to go through and sometimes it's hard to make sense of things. I would suggest keeping a food diary to keep track of things, as this can really be helpful in sorting out the whole 'input / output' equation and seeing where you could possibly swap in a few healthier options.

As for what I REALLY do to lose weight, I follow a diet plan that really works for me (see my signature) and I would suggest doing the same thing. I'm not saying do the same plan as me, although I would of course recommend it, but I mean finding a plan that works for you.

Of course you can still eat when losing weight :D you just have to be a little more careful. I would certainly get very grouchy if I was starving myself all the time!

Good luck with everything anyway, hope to see you around!
