Former Lurker

Hi, well, I have lurked here for months and finally decided to join. My wakeup call finally came when I lurched from size large in clothing to XL. :o That was horrific. I am 5'6 and was probably 195 pounds. I was still wearing my maternity clothes from when I was pregnant... still do actually! Those elastic waists are deceiving! I used to run six miles a day but quit when I got married and that really started to pack the pounds on, having 2 kids in 3 years didn't help that either.

I have been dieting for almost a month now and I am down to 180 pounds or whereabouts. I am calorie counting and exercising. I am currently doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred after hearing rave reviews from friends and seeing the good remarks about it on this site, and I am working on running again I am up to running 2.4 km at a time. I really want this weight off. My goal is my old weight before I quit working out: 135 lb.

My "mini" goal is to look great by the end of august because we are going back to my hometown to visit friends and family there then. I don't want to be running into old friends (or heaven forbid, ex boyfriends) that only knew the skinny me and have them see me this fat!

I am looking forward to getting to know you all, this seems like such a happy and supportive community. :carrot:

Hello cb1:sunny: and :welcome3:

I prefer to call it perusing rather than lurking. I have enough negatives in my life already.

I am pretty new here. I lost most of my weight on my own and recognized my need of a daily support network after regaining 20 last winter.

I am following South Beach since its "philosophy" is actually how I lost most of my weight. I have gotten much more serious because I don't want to take another 4 years out of my life struggling with the rest.

I am confident you can find the information and support here that you need to succeed.

Best wishes!

Don't lurk! Come on in and participate! We're glad you're here.

Have you found all those threads? Jillian Michaels? Running? Young moms?

Welcome!

SusanB - Where is the young moms thread?

Welcome!! I'm new too, after being a 'lurker' for quite some time, haha. I figured it would be better for me to actively participate and feel like I need to be accountable, rather than just read and agree, haha. Best of luck to you! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome!

SusanB - I have found the Jillian Michaels and running threads but where is the young moms thread??

srmb60 06-03-2009 05:20 AM

I'm not sure now cb1 ... try hunting around in the support groups and challenges. Maybe it's buried in with the 30 somethings. Or maybe I was dreaming ... sorry. I know there's plenty of young Moms here.
