Trying to get motivated to lose 51 pounds...

Hi there. I am in east Tennessee and I am 39 years old. Every since the birth of my youngest 14-1/2 years ago (Yeah, can't call THAT baby fat anymore), I have struggled with my weight, gaining a grand total of 64 pounds since before having kids. I am so fed up with it. I do not see myself as a fat person. I am a skinny person with all of this fat on me, and it makes me sick. But I also have a problem with motivation. The more I think of "doing", the less I want to "do". I had made a deal with my husband a while back (before I gained a few MORE pounds), that when I get down to 142, he will quit smoking. I know he will do that, because he knows how difficult this is for me, and I thought that would be enough motivation for me, but so far--nothing. As I approach 40, I know I am going to have more problems than just unhappy with my looks. Now is the time I HAVE to do this, and I need all the support I can get. I'm looking forward to meeting you all and will see you on the other boards as well!!!!

Hi and welcome!

Make yourself at home here at 3FC. Each day you can read a little something that will prod you on to more "doing".

Hi! Welcome :) There are a lot of people who have lost lots and lots of weight here. Check out the "Goal!" and "Living Maintnence" sections of the board for inspiration. 50 lbs is totally doable. If you don't feel like changing much, just start small. Make whatever changes you feel you can stick with. Little changes do make a difference! You CAN do this!
