time to be fast-food-free?
Hi everyone! I'm new here but for the past two years every time I wanted advice on a new excersize machine/diet or just to look for inspiring stories, 3FC is where I'd always find myself, so I've decided to join!
At 13 I moved in with my oober-skinny best friend. It turns out she was so skinny thanks to some not-so-healthy eating choices, which I picked up. After realizing this way of life wasn't right, I moved in with another good friend, who's eating habits I wouldn't call completely healthy, but more normal. This change in eating effected me drastically (ballooning from 110- pounds to over 155. It didn't help I had a major binge-and+purge mentality and I'm in no way blaming these fine ladies for my bad decisions! two years ago I moved back in with my father, who had just returned from a big construction job in the interior of BC. Because it was easier for him, he chose to live in a hotel (he still was goiing back and forth between the interior and the island we live on) This lifestyle included a LOT of fast-food. To the point where, aside from dining out, that's all we ate. I now weigh in at a steady 148 I've finally moved out (I just turned 19 and college is about to smack me right in the face this september) and I think this is the summer I will begin to look after myself and my body, and get myself back down to 120 pounds! I can't wait to become apart of this amazing online family =) |
I'm just worried its going to be hard to stay away from the greasy stuff, its sort of become a way of life :(

It was for me too. I can tell you with 100% confidence that the cleaner you eat, the less you will want for the horrible stuff that now makes up your diet. It does get easier.

I agree with thighs be gone, when I was in college I used to eat a lot of junk food (I wasn't raised that way as a child) and I personally used to think that would not catch up with me. I carried those unhealthy habits later in live and here I am at the highest weight ever (I had a baby but I didn't gain a lot of weight when I was pregnant, due to health issues I was really discipline. I didn't want to put at risk my baby's health).
Believe me, you can do it. One thing that had help me is to be more educated about the food I consume. Also here in NYC they approved a new law that forces fast foods restaurants to disclose calories on the menu board that you see when ordering. I think this is great, I found myself driving to a fast food and turning around shocked!!! When there's no other choice and it is the only thing available it makes me make better choices. Maybe you can start serching on the web about the nutritional value of your favorite fast food junk. Hope it helps. Exito!!! |
Hi and :wel3fc:
I used to eat a lot of fast food and thought it tasted so good.....well after breaking that cycle and eating nutritiously I actually get sick when I eat fast food now, plus it tastes like CARDBOARD! I had my naturopath laughing so hard when I told her that I only eat McDonald's now if I'm feeling "stopped up" and need something that will make me go. |
