New, Hopeful

Hi Everyone.

My name is TB and I am excited to have found such a lively group!

I am a single mom, 5 years out of tough marriage. I took care of my husband (no more) and my children for a LONG time - and now also taking care of my mother. And I have been pretty far down on that CARE list.

Well, folks - I am making the declaration, here, that I am moving to the top of that list. This is a quiet revolution, though. If I say it out loud around here, I can expect all kinds of resistance to change and concerns that I am going to "neglect my responsibilities" if I take too much time for myself... I am sure others here have heard the same.

Thanks, in advance, for support.

TB

Hi TB and :wel3fc:

Taking care of ourselves in NOT being selfish. Before we can care for others, we have to take care of ourselves. We're doing the right thing and it really doesn't matter what others think or how threatened they may be by the change.

Hello and :Welcome:
Good for you for making yourself a priority. Even though it will be difficult, it will be great for your family to see you taking care of yourself. We're all rooting for you. Take some time (if you have some!! :) ) and look through the threads to find some that you can relate to.

Good luck with your journey! :high:

Thanks SO MUCH!
Like so many, I have started and lost this weight-loss journey too many times to count. This time it feels different because it isn't really about looking great in clothes (though that is a great motivator!) - it's more about being healthy and keeping up with my kids and showing them how to do the things that brought me so much when I was a kid: swimming, hiking, biking, etc).
Thanks for all your kind words - really!
TB
