finally back!

hellooo everyone! i am finally back..its been a tough few months. i have been sick. i found out that i have fatty liver disease..and it is rated as severe ( whatever that means) needless to say..i have had biopsies and two surgeries. one to have my bladder lifted and cysts removed and the other to take my broken gallbladder. soo finally now that i am off medical leave and back to work without restrictions i am ready to tackle this. my liver disease is what has caused me to gain this weight really quickly. i will be going back to the gym tomorrow. no more 2 hour work outs though! twenty minutes to a half hour is more than enough. i have reduced my fat intake and i am planning to also start alli tomorrow. i am currently weighing 247lbs :( i know i will reach my goal of 165. it will take work but i need to do this to stay healthy. ps i graduate from college next month too!

Katie, welcome back. I also suffer from liver disease. I have primary biliary cirrhosis and auto-immune hepatitis. I'm told that I also have/had fatty liver disease. My doctor also attibuted much of my weight problem to the fact that my liver wasn't working like it should. He did put me on Glucophage which helped my liver to function better and made losing weight easier for me.

At my highest weight, I was 234 lbs. I was told to lower my carbohydrates and eat healthier. My doctor recommended South Beach diet due to my liver condition. I chose to go on Atkins and it worked for me in my initital weight loss endeavor. I now choose to watch my fat intake and still keep my carbs within a reasonable level.

My health was so bad at first that even short walks helped tremendously. It took me a month or two to even be able to walk for 15 min's. Now I normally walk 3-4 miles at a time.

Liver disease is serious, but like mine, I'm sure your fatty liver disease will improve with proper eating and exercise. I wish the very best for you and if you have any questions I'll be glad to help in any way I can.
