Nice to meet you

Hi. I'm Mari. I've been reading this forum for several weeks for suggestions, inspiration, etc. I am self employed, with a home office, for almost 13 years, and love it. It's given me the freedom to be a mom full time and make a living. I've realized, since I'm at my highest weight ever (including when I was pregnant) and have gone through menopause that my body has changed. In the past, I did my best alone. But, it's become obvious that I need to be a part of a group... I think the accountability I find here could make the difference. I am determined to get healthy because I'm 48 with a 6 year old and have so many things I want to do. My long term goal, honestly, is to be able to learn how to surf (amongst other things).

Hi Mari! I've only been here a week but already have found inspiration and encouragement. I know what you mean about menopause...I'm 47 and still trying to figure out where my metabolism went.

EmZee 04-24-2009 01:48 PM

Hi Peep! I know! And where did this belly come from?!

Peep Smith 04-24-2009 02:40 PM

Yeah, what about that! Just how did I wind up with a food baby?!

Welcome, EmZee! Yeah, menopause really does a number on us, doesn't it? But it sure is GREAT to be on the other side! LOL

Good luck, and be sure to check out the blogs...it's a great way to develop an even more personal one-on-one with people! :)

Thanks, I will. I've read a few over the past few weeks and will continue. It's really a wonderful idea. I've started one myself, but am not sure what I should keep private and what should be public. I've never had a blog before. Do you find it helpful to your weightloss/healthgain?

Sunny Gee 04-25-2009 11:26 PM

Well, I've only been at it a week. HOWEVER, I think a big part of the reason I've failed in the past is because I didn't totally immerse myself in the process; did it half you-know-what, if you know what I mean. LOL So I'm going at this gung ho. Of course you can keep it private, but I personally am finding it nice to connect with others making similar journeys. But that's totally up to you. Stay in touch! :)

I read your blog and really enjoyed it. I really liked your making challenges of eating the way you've decided. I'm also at a place where getting thin and healthy is the prize. It's not a sacrifice to eat healthy and get physically active. My problem has been the lack of results. This new post-menopause body doesn't respond the same way the pre-meno body did. And, WOW :dancer: your first week has been so successful! It's gotta feel great to see results!!

I've made the beginning of my blog public, then some of the emotional issues I know that I need to work through, private. I'll find a balance. I really do want to make partnerships, find get thin buddies.

btw, how do you put the link to your blog on your posts?

Welcome to 3FC! Surf around and settle in! We have subforums based on age, eating plan, exercise and more!

I love that you want to learn to surf! One of the best parts of my journey has been doing things physically that I never thought I would be able to do. But we only live once---so seize the day, etc!!

Thanks, Midwife!
