Starting again for the last time!

  • Well, here's my story, you all probably have the same experience in one way or another. I've been overweight all my life. I was the fat kid that never got picked to play on the team, and was teased, to the fat teenager that had very few friends and was alone a lot. I've never known what it was like to be anywhere near a 'normal' weight. I've been over 300lbs my entire adult life. *sigh*

So, in July of 2006 I end up in the hospital for multiple pulmonary embolisms (blood clots on my lungs). I'm put on a very restricted diet for sodium, I now have high blood pressure, etc, etc. Once I'm out of the hospital I have a new lease on life. Changes are going to be made and new lifestyle is in sight. I manage to drop a significant amount of weight and am feeling great. I end up meeting a great guy and we have just celebrated our 2 year anniversary. All is great, except I not only fell off the diet train, but waived it goodbye and sent it flowers. I have gained all the weight back plus the extra that likes to come along and make you feel even worse.

I am now 37 and the heaviest I have ever been in my life and starting a new regime. Gone are the options of what to eat, I'm on protein shakes and fruits and veggies. Granted I only started this week, but it's actually not as bad as I thought it would be. I can already feel the change of increased energy. Now if the muscle I pulled in my back will heal I can get out and start moving. I'm hoping to get back on my bike and start riding again. My short term goal is to get to where I can ride my bike to work again and not feel like a freight train has hit me.

Anyhootle, that's my long story short. I've begun the journey again, and am determined to see my short term and long term goals be met. I know there will be bumps in the road, but I hope to overcome them.

Thanks for taking the time to read my sob story! LOL!
  • Apart from being older and singler and not (yet) hospitalized by my weight, I feel exactly the same! Welll, I mean I too have started again for the last time!
