New Here and Looking for a New Life!

I found this site blog-hopping, and I'm so glad that I did. Over the past couple of days, I've been reading thread after thread. I feel like I know some of you already, and I'm so inspired by your posts.

My story: I'm 45 and weigh 232 pounds at 5' feet 6 inches. Wow, that was hard to type. In 1997 I weighed 240 pounds and joined Weight Watcher's, and 2 years later, I had lost 100 pounds!!! At the end of 1998 my hair starting falling out in clumps, everyone that I told about it thought it was because I'd lost so much weight, but after seeing a Dr. I found out that I had an auto-immune disorder called alopecia areata. Long story short, I lost 90% of my hair, and had to wear a wig for close to 2 years.

I feel into a depression, I didn't want to leave the house. I was self-conscious of the wig. I was a wreck. And I ate. I ate a lot. I gained about 60 pounds in those years.

My hair did grow back, thank God! But in the meantime, I've gained all of the weight that I lost to begin with. Now I'm in my mid 40's and my feet hurt and my knees hurt, and this time I want to lose weight to feel better physically. Don't get me wrong, I want to look better too, but my goal is to be healthy.

If you have read all of this, thank you. I'm so glad to be here!

Hi Desi!

I'm new here and new to WW too. At least you are feeling better now and you identified what made you gain that weight, I think that's the most important first step.

Wow, 100 pounds! If you did it before you can do it again.:)
