newbie - hello board!

  • Good evening everyone!

I figured it was about time to introduce myself. My name is Kelly. I'm 23 years old and currently beginning my journey on the (long) road of weight loss. I always felt having a support group behind you makes the process a lot easier, and after lurking for a while and seeing the tremedous support on this board I finally decided to join. =]

My boyfriend and I are going away at the end of May. I want to finally be able to go to a store and pick out the hot bikini everyone is eyeing, and wear it with pride. I don't want to look in the mirror in the dark anymore. I want to be able to go to the mall with my girlfriends and not be embarrassed of trying on clothes just for fun because I don't want them to see what size I am.

My goal is to drop anywhere from 25 to 35 pound and I want to go from my current size of a 10/12 to a 7/8 (the ultimate size would be 5/6). I recently started a whole new exercise routine, which I plan to do 5-6 times a week, of a mix of cardio, aerobics, and pilates and also took up new diet habits. Good-bye McDonalds and Coca Colas!

I look forward to getting to know everyone and going on this journey together. You are all wonderful and fabolous and deserve nothing but the best life has to offer you and I know whatever goals (both weight loss and other) you may set, big, small, and in between, you will achieve them! You have my support 1000% and will always have me cheering you on!

    Hugs & Kisses,
    Kelly

  • He, my Name is Dawn and I am a carb addict. I am also new to this site. I became a member yesterday but I have been utilizing the South beach Diet recipes for a couple of weeks. Some are great . I am 5'9 and weigh 194 lbs. When I started SB I weighed 212 lbs. I have been up and down the scale since 1990 trying every diet there is. At my smallest I was 128 and my heaviest 220. I am 42 and have started to notice that my knees hurt and my cholesteral is high and so is my blood sugar. I do not want to go on medication. My entire family goes to the beach in Alabama every summer and last year I was the heaviest one, except for my cousin who was 8 months pregnant, and she still looked better than me. I don't want to be the biggest one on the beach this year. My husband, bless him, is always supportive and loves me at every weight I have been but he is getting worried about my health as well. He has been helping me find low carb yummy recipes as well. At my job we are going to start "Biggest Loser Teams" after spring break. It always helps to support each other and that is why I joined this site. Good luck everyone and I will need it as well. Any tips on how to beat those carb cravings will be appreciated!
