Here I go!

As I'm sure many of you can relate I am SO frustrated and sick and tired of obsessively thinking about how overweight I am.

I got married in November and after losing a small amount of lbs for the wedding I am worse off than I was a year before the wedding. Augh. Right after the honeymoon I moved cross country from San Francisco to join my husband in NYC. I had a few months off in between jobs and was basically on a free for all. My husband comes from a very traditional Italian family and the food is never ending. BOTH of us gained a good amount of weight this winter (except of course my husband goes back to the gym for 2 weeks and is almost back to his tip-top athletic shape).

I know what I need to do to get my self in shape and thankfully I have a great support system in my husband. In high school he was 300 lbs and has been right around 190-200 for the past 6-7 years (he is 6'4")...so he knows what it is like to struggle with weight and knows what it takes to change lifestyles. Since I am new to NYC and all my friends/family are back home what I DON'T have is a female support system. As wonderful and supportive and helpful as my husband is, like I mentioned earlier, he can drop 15 lbs in no time....men! I came across these boards and you all seem like such a wonderful group, I am starting right NOW. No more waiting til Monday's, no more excuses. I've had it, ladies!!! I'm tired of my size 16 jeans, I want to get into some single digits once and for all! Lord help me! :-)

Thank you for reading this novel :-)

Love your sense of humor. Your statement "I've had it, ladies!!!" sounds like you are ready to do this.
So good luck and welcome!

Welcome to 3FC!

I love your attitude! I'm sure you'll find the support you want here and will be a great encouragement to others! :D

Hey Aly! :wel3fc:

It sounds like you have such a great foundation for success...your husband's support, the recognition that you need other support, and a solid decision in your mind that this is IT.

We have forums here to give you that support...by age range, by eating plan, etc. We also have a ton of small groups, miscellaneous challenges, and other threads to give you that extra push.

So look around, settle in, and get going! Can't wait to get to know you better!

Ditto!!!

We have sooooo much in common! I too got married in November, my husband is a wonderful support system, he too was around 360 pounds in high school and college and lost it down to around 200 pounds in a year and a half, and now keeps it steady at around 200, I too lost weight only to have gained it back, I also am sick and tired of being obsessed with every thought centering on how fat I am or how I look at this or that angle... I will definitely be sticking around to swap stories with you! Good luck!

Hey girl!! I, too, am over the size 16 pants. I'm not looking to be Barbie. A size 8 would do just fine. I moved to a new town where my husband is stationed (Hooah!), so I have no one to support me but my husband who "thinks I'm absolutely gorgeous no matter how much I weigh". (Great for my self-esteem, HORRIBLE for my waist line.) I started about a month ago and I have lost 7 pounds. I'm celebrating that and not thinking about the other 50 I have to go. But WE CAN DO IT!! Good luck!
