Peek's head around corner shyly... new here.

Hi Everyone.
I'm happy to be here.. I've spent all day trying to find a forum I can come to with level headed people in my same circumstances for support- so here I am!

I'm 35 years old, married to an amazing man, no children.
And the heaviest and most miserable I've ever been at 189.5 (Im 5'7")

I used to be a marathon runner... now I dont work out at all and eat horribly.

My husband is a marathon runner and we just got home from the Disney Marathon.. as he ran I sat on the sidelines eating a carmel roll. Not one of my proudest moments.

We just got a new treadmill for Christmas.. so I plan on using it in my journey.

I have a past history of binge eating/emotional eating.

I've gained and lost the same 30 lbs so many times now. And I want this to be the LAST TIME!! I have so many GORGEOUS clothes in my closet-- and all I basically wear are my size XL Juicy sweats. Also, I want to do this for health reasons-- I dont feel good at all.

I look in the mirror and no longer recognize myself. I find that I tend to stay in the house and dont want to see old friends b/c I'm embarressed of how I look.

So, that's me. I'm tired of this endless cycle and I want to find the old me again and be happy and healthy.

I look forward to participating in supporting each other!

You came to the right place, sheltielover!! It may take a little time but look around the site and join a couple of threads. I found this site to be the single most helpful thing I'd done ever to help me stop (mostly) the yo-yo cycle I'd been on for the last several years.

The challenge threads are the most helpful for me, but there are tons of different interests here, so I know you will find one or two and begin to feel comfortable as well as gain support and motivation!

:welcome3:

Thank you so much- I will check them out!

Congratulations on your impressive loss!

You're welcome! Love your new avatar, btw (of course!)

I am on three threads at the moment--yes, at times I've been on almost too many to keep up, sometimes 5 or 6. At times my life is too busy or the threads are too fast moving to keep up with very well, but I gamely hang in there. And I enjoy following along with everyone else's progress and struggles, I find.

There is a runner's forum on here, and usually a few C25K's are going on, (but that may be too easy for you as you used to be a marathon runner--wow!! And you probably already can do a 5K--I am just now managing to do them myself, but still I am slow and have to walk at least 2-3 times....)

The point I am trying to make is, if you can set some goals, make them public, and commit to posting about your progress as well as getting in the habit of giving back some support, it's amazing how it all can start to work on influencing you. I love this site!

Welcome to 3FC! Surf around and settle in! We have subforums based on eating plans, exercise, age (30-somethings!), and more. I'd love to see you in the runners' threads. We have a 1000 miles in 2009 challenge going on in the exercise thread, and it is not too late to join---you can set any number of miles as your goal.

I'm glad you're here!!

Welcome! I understand what you said about looking in the mirror and not recognizing yourself. Its like some stranger took over your body because your insides definitely don't match the outsides! Well, good luck! If you've done it before it can be done again, and even better!

Welcome to the forum. I am new as well (just joined yesterday) and like you I also have 30lbs to lose. I am not a runner though, but I have been looking at the Couch to 5K program and will give it a go once the weather cools down (I am in Australia and it is a very hot summer here).

Best of luck with your weight loss journey!
