New-Again

I was here last year, lost 13 pounds and then went by the wayside. I have since been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and gained back the 13 I lost. I am desperate for change and need support on demand- lol- so here I am.

I am 5'6", 253 and 37 years old. I have 3 boys, the youngest is 5 and I really want to enjoy an active life with him so I MUST lose the weight. This is the heaviest I have ever been and I have never had to lose more than 40 pounds my whole life, so the task of losing 100 pounds seems daunting. I also have very little patience and tend to get discouraged when things don't happen fast enough, but I do know that realistically it could take me over a year to get to goal. I can't stand that, but I can't stand another year unhealthy even more so I am going to tough it out and make lifestyle changes. I know there is no quick fix, that I just need to relearn hunger and eating/portions.

I look forward to growing - well shrinking- with you all here!

Oh, and what is the online site where you can track your daily calories, fat, exercise etc???? I can't remember the link!!

Hello! And welcome back :)

It's going to take a long time. But remember that we're building habits for a healthier life. So while all the weight may not come off at once, we can see our changes add up.

If you're into counting calories, check under the Calorie Counters for good websites & some information. Also, check out the Dieting with Obstacles section. And the 100 lb Club. :)

You can do this. You may need to build up patience, but it'll come if you have determination!

Hi Mary! Welcome back!

Some folks use FitDay.com and some use the Daily Plate.

I'm glad you're here! You're right---it might take many months to lose ALL the weight, but losing even 10% of your weight makes a great difference both in your health and how you feel. Some people like to set mini goals, or focus on food and exercise goals.

We have a diabetes subforum and a 100lb Club---both of which are full of support and knowledge.

Thanks ladies. Fitday is the one I was thinking of! I just checked out the 100 lb club, but didn't see the Diabets forum. I will find it!

Counting calories is exactly what I will be doing so I will check that forum out too. Thanks!!!
