Newbie Here!
Hi everyone! I've been lurking around here for a while and just decided to join.
My story: I've always been overweight. In school I was always the "chubby" kid and by the time I graduated high school I actively avoided any brush with the scales so I have no real idea just how much my weight has fluctuated up and down over the years. I've always been active for my size...hiking, biking, camping and dancing, etc. and up until a few years ago, I worked retail so spent most of the day on my feet running to and fro. However, about four years ago I got out of the retail rat race and took a job as an administrative assistant at a local church...that, coupled with a LOT of major life stress, has meant that my exercise routines and active lifestyle has gone right out the window. Bleh. So, today my DH and I broke down and did the unthinkable...bought a scale and, after getting on it, I was forced to acknowledge just how overweight I really am. Luckily I had already decided that I'd had enough so had already made some small changes to my eating habits and intend to add exercise as soon as possible (we're in the process of deciding just what piece of equipment we want to invest in) so hopefully I'll be getting into shape in no time!! So, here are the stats, in black and white, to keep me honest: Starting weight: 300 lbs. Mini-goal: 290 lbs. I know 10lbs doesn't seem like much but losing weight has always been extremely difficult for me (my body likes to hold onto the weight) so I think if I break it down into tiny, manageable sections it might go easier for me. |
Welcome to 3FC! A 10 pound mini goal is actually a very good one. Don't discount it, you'll earn every penny of it. :) We have a 100 pound club and also a 300+ club that you would probably get a lot of support from. Feel free to jump in anywhere you like, though.

Welcome Sunshine! This is a great place for support. Mini-goals are a great idea. It makes the whole process of losing weight seem a little more satisfying if you are able to see it progress faster. I loved being able to see the decades drop with each 10 lbs.
Be sure to look around the site, there are great places to post and receive/give support. |
Welcome Sunshine!
I too have avoided the scale...but avoiding the reality is a different thing altogether. :( It's wonderful that your husband is supportive. I wish you both MANY successes! |
Hi there sunshine! We are all in the same boat sista! Welcome
