Yet another New Year's resolution to lose weight
Hi everyone!
I'm one of those people who was skinny and nerdy my entire childhood -- who never learned to eat healthily, and never joined a sports team, and who never lost weight (or tried to) in my life. Then puberty happened -- and college. Even though I am not significantly overweight yet, I've resolved to lose 15 lbs this year because I recently received some news that completely freaked me out: first, that I have a cholesterol of 240; and second, that I might have the first symptoms of PCOS. Both heart disease and diabetes run in my family, and most of us gain weight around age 20 (where I am now) so I'm here to try to be proactive and learn how to live well. :) I have to say that I've been really impressed to hear some of your weight-loss stories... and I am extremely jealous of your self-control. I'm not interested in starving myself, but I could definitely afford to lose the muffin top. |
Good luck to you! I am starting my journey again as well, and have MUCH more to loose than you do, but hopefully, we can both be successful!

:welcome: Lackadaisy and tanyota1 - you'll be able to find your answers here.
Lackadaisy, you may want to go to the main forum page Dieting with Obstacles and see the threads for PCOS. Hope this helps:hug: |
I will definitely do so -- thanks!

Good for you for getting a jump on things!! I have a friend who is 5'4" and 110 and had PCOS. Her doctors kept overlooking it because she is so thin and being overweight is a hallmark of PCOS. Well, they overlooked it until they couldn't anymore. Sometime it is easy for medical professionals to pigeonhole patients by weight alone. I am glad that your Dr. isn't one of those.
Yay for being proactive about your health!! |
