ready for a change in 09
Hey everyone. I was active on this site about a year ago, and lost about 40 lbs. Unfortunately I gained about 30 of it back.... my current weight is 199-ish and I want to be 150. I'm 5 ft 5.
My name is AJ, and I am 30. I live in the northwest, and am married with two great kids. I know that most of weight loss is a mental game, and unfortunately, I am not as strong as I would like to be in that arena. My husband is fit. He is a runner and a rock climber. I climb too, but I am nothing compared to him, and want to be a better climber. Funny thing is, is that I am not sure it if it my weight that I am sick over, it is my fitness level. I don’t care how many pounds I am, all I care about is how far I can run, or how many sends I can make on the rock and how far I can hike in the mountains or even how far I can bike with my kids. I could care less what the scale said, as long as i can do those things. Sure- it is disheartening to not feel sexy when I want, or not to be able to wear a sleeveless dress because it "looks funny" but I think if I were FIT it would help me sooooo much. So I am not really here to see what kind of poundage I can lose. It will be great to see numbers, but I am here for moral support. The mental game is the hardest for me. I also recently had a total hysterectomy (TVH) in the beginning of December (2008), and that has wreaked havoc on my body. I have not been cleared for fitness yet, but soon I hope to be… AJ |
Hi AJ - I'm glad you've come back for moral support - I actually am here for the same. I'd love to see the numbers come down and all, but I really just need someone to tell me, "good job" or "keep going" and even the sometimes needed, "get off your fanny and move!" :)
Glad to meet you. |
Welcome back, AJ! If you don't have some faves already, try some of the chat and challenge threads. There are also exercise/sport specific threads and challenges on the different forums. You might open up a climber's thread on the Exercise forum, if there's not one already, and find some kindred spirits. Maybe set some fitness goals or find a competition locally that you can train up for, if that would inspire you. When you're all healed up, you might also like to check out the Crossfit website (google it).
