Default its about time--newbie from ohio

O.k. I am so ready to take the plunge and join this forum. I am a SAHM from OH. I been overweight sence I was in the 2nd grade. Am a total carb addict and am intrested in the low GI-reduced carb TYPE of lifestyle lifeplan. I did stop eating sugar and processed food this summer and lost 10lbs. but as fall approached I gained it all back by eating junk. Never excercised but have just joined Curves to help with this metomorphsis. I really don't want this to turn out like my million other weight loss efforts, totally a failure! As I see it my life is 1/2 over and I want to live the rest healthy. I would like some pals who like me are carb addicted- and especially anyone who could help me with a tutitorial on the reduced carb type plans out there, I did feel sooo much better when I was following 30-40 carbs a day(healthy ones). My family-all obese and my sister is waiting for WLS. My BFF passed away this year from complications from WLS. I need to be accountable for my choices and would like to have some support from all of you wonderful people. God Bless you all and good luck

Hi Dinomama!

Congratulations on wanting to take control!

If you're interested in reducing your carbs, check out the Lower Carb section under Diet Central. Many types of plans, and many members who share your carb-concerns.

If you don't want this to end up like your past diets... don't make this like your past diets. In fact, I suggest you forget the word diet all together. You're changing the way that you eat. Simple as that. There is no going back to the way you used to eat. You now eat lower carb. That's just the way it is.

One step at a time. You'll build some great healthy, and permanent, habits. And changes in your weight will come.

Best of success!

Hi Dino!

The problem with diets? Eventually, you go off of them. Changing your LIFESTYLE, though...well, it means you're doing this for LIFE (and that's a key to maintenance).

You may want to visit the 100 lb club (for those on their way to losing or who have lost 100 lbs or more), or any of our forums by age range or eating plan. Just find a spot or several and settle on in.

Can't wait to get to know you better!

The best thing I started was The South Beach "Diet". I to am a carb addict, they seem to always be there when no one else is! I'm also cuban so rice was always a staple. The thing with this "diet" is that its more of a lifestyle. I loved it because it is almost instant that you feel better. I'm not going to lie, the first week is difficult but after that its not so bad. For me it became a challenge against myself, learning how to cook each of the recipes from the books and learning to like new things. Its worth a try!
