Fed up with being FAT

Hi all,
I just joined this forum today. I think I am finally fed up with my size. I say *think* bc last January I joined WW and lost 20 pounds in a month. And then I hit a standstill, got depressed, and gained it all back and dropped WW. I can't afford to join WW again but I am sick to death of feeling this unhealthy. I'm hoping I will get motivation as well ideas as to HOW to get down to my goal weight here. My baby girl is almost 2, and I can't use her as my excuse anymore!

Thanks for listening.

Fed up I am fed up also

I feel you fed up. I have done the same thing you did. Went on weight watchers and lost weight felt great gained it all back plus some. I am now working out to hip hop abs and it is so fun, you might want to try that if you are not working out. I found out from my doctor that i am only 35 pounds over weight for my height which really thru me for a loop. Have you gone to the doctor to see exactly how much you weight. You will be surprised how less over weight you are compared to how much you think you are. I thought i was at least a 100 pounds overweight. The eating part i am having a problem with but i found out on a website that if i start eating 1900 calories a day working out 3 days a week i could lose weight. I have a seven year old so, i can't blame none of this on her lol.I would love to be 199 just to say i am under a 200 lol. I takes a little to make me happy. If you need some support we can encourage each other.

My mom lost 30 pounds on WW and never gained it back. But I got sooooo frustrated with the weigh ins! I lost 20 or so pounds and only had 8 more to go.....and I did EVERYTHING RIGHT and went SIX WEEKS without a loss, each time the scale lady would ask me some nosy question. Was it that time of month? Was I taking MEDICATION?

In reality, if you lose a big chunk of weight sometimes you plateau for awhile, and the last few pounds are slowest. It's not some BFD but they drove me to despair over it!

There are forums and discussions for every type of diet here. Check out Diet Central to see your options. You will want to choose a plan for eating, a plan for exercise, and a plan for how much water you will drink in a day. It's okay to plan just one day at a time if you need to, in the beginning. Just keep trying until you find your groove. If you don't like any of the more specific diet plans, then calorie counting works with any kind of food. :)

I love this site!! I've been coming here off and on for 2 years. I am fed up with being overweight! Been this way all my life, and so has my family, and I want to be the start of the generation thats not, for a change. I get alot of :grouphug: and :high: when I'm here, and I'm pretty sure everyone here will make you feel like family.

I'm Hawaiian, Black, and Chinese and suprisingly I have a medium bodyframe!! My favorite food is RICE!! Absolutely love it!! I'm not really following any diet plans (I couldn't bare to give up foods that I love! ) but instead, I include portion control in everything I eat (really, I try to eat like a 10 year old ie; 1 or 2 slices max of pizza, or 1 sandwhich and a handful of chips) I try to walk or do some type of exercise at least 30 minutes 5 times a week.

Enough rambling, I would like to get to know everyone else!

:welcome2: to 3fc here I have found the support and help that I have needed along the way and oh yes the odd :kickbutt: when I have needed it.

When you near your goal weight you will find that it goes at :snail: snails pace or you plateau for a period of time as your body adjusts to the weight that it has lost. Think of this plateau in a positive manner as practice for maintenance which you will have to do when you have reached your goal. Eventually if you continue to eat healthily, with portion control and exercise the weight will eventually start to come off. The main thing is not to panic and use it as an excuse to go back to your old ways.

3FC is a great place to find support & extra advice on how to keep going.

Find a plan to your liking, and stick to it! If you keep at it, you'll get what you want :)

Best of success!!!

Jackie, that's how I started out this year, too, just trying to eat less of what I was already eating. It can get the weight moving, and then in time you'll feel like that's easy, so you can try some things like cooking with less or no oil, replacing white rice with brown rice (it's a little different texture, and takes longer to cook, but it's still yummy), and choosing leaner meats, stuff like that. Best of luck to you on your journey! Come join us on the Calorie Counters board, at the thread called "CC New Year's Challenge". We chat and encourage each other. You don't have to tally up your cals to fit in...I don't count mine, either, except once in a blue moon, but IMO, portion control is still a form of calorie counting. Anyway, all are welcome, and it's a great way to get to know some names and faces, and for others to get to know you, which really helps me keep doing the right things every day. :)

PurpleOrc, congrats on your weight loss! Very inspiring, and your latest pic looks awesome!
