Seventeen, 275 lbs. :(
Hey all. I'm stasia. I'm 5'10", 275lbs. I want to get into the military, but of course i got to lose weight. the thing is that i plan to exercise or something but when the time comes, i'm too tired or something came up. people say make yourself or set a time specifically to do it, but that doesn't work for me. its so hard to break these habits. please give me some advice on how to start off. I can't even get through a day! Also, i don't have money for healthy foods or expensive things like going to the gym. exercise to me is extremely boring. please give advice on making exercise more fun also. thanks!!!

Hey Satsia. Weight loss isn't expensive. You need some decent shoes to move in. If you have money to buy regular foods, you have money for healthy foods too. Think of what you could save with no more drive-thrus or donut trips. If you are anything like me, probably $100 a month. Just watch your sales and buy in season produce. You can do this. It takes being real with yourself and those around you. It takes believing you are worth more than the food. As far as making exercise more fun I would say find a way to listen to some of your favorite tunes and just get active--walking through the mall, walking around your block or dancing around your living room. Also, find some exercise programs on TV and follow as you can.

exercise can be boring and expensive. So I make sure I have upbeat music I enjoy to listen to whenever I exercise - I cant do it without music.
The majority of my exercising is walking. outside. I found an exercise bike somebody was giving away so I used it for quite awhile - but now I exercise on a used elliptical machine. I count calories. and keep track at fitday.com. It's free. The majority of my plan has been free. All you need is determination and commitment to an eating plan and exercise regiment. You can do this! |
I know how you feel girl.
I'm 19 myself. If you ever need to talk, PM me. :) |
I would suggest getting some exercise DVD's....try Turbo Jam from beachbody the instructor is really upbeat and funky! I have a lot of exercise DVD's and I would def. say that Turbo Jam is probably the most fun out of all of them which will help keep you motivated!!
Look on ebay for the dvd's or a used bookstore...I got mine at bookmans which is a used bookstore for really cheap! |
Stasia~ I dislike exercise immensely. Always have and always will. But I know if I keep doing the same things (not doing anything) I will always be right where I am now OR worse!
I took my son to the park today and instead of being the fat toad on the park bench watching my son play, I walked around the park on the side walk doing laps while keeping an eye on my son. I park in the far corner of the parking lot at the grocery store. I will NOT use the drive through if I absolutley must have fast food. I will park the car and drag myself into the place to order. I'm lazy enough that to do that just might make me NOT want fast food. And last night I went for a 15 stroll around the neighborhood. For a 110 lb skinny mini...(no offense, skinny chicks) this may not add up to exercise but when you are packing around an extra 100lbs, every extra step you take really does count. Sweetie pie, I have a daughter your age, I'm proud of you for getting a handle on your weight while you are young. I wish I would have. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Big Hug!! |
Hi Stasia .....
Good luck with your goals.... I've only joined today ... but it certainly looks like you have come to the right place for inspiration and support:) and to ultimately find success .... I was really inactive after all my pregnancies and just got back into it slowly with ever increasing walks .... I too think it is great you are addressing the healthier lifestyle issue now .... |
I don't have much advice since I'm pretty new to all of this, but I can say that the best thing you could do is to never give up on yourself, because YOU'RE WORTH IT! Good luck!
