Hello Hello!

Hi everyone! My name is Sheri, and obviously I am new here! I had a friend refer me to here because I've been fighting being fat for... well... ever. :)

I'm 26 years old, and have 4 children, a 4 year old daughter, a 3 year old son, and twin 15 month old girls. I went on a low carb diet right before I got pregnant with my 4 year old, lost 57 pounds, then started having kids. So... here I am. I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, so naturally, that makes weight loss that much harder. I've gained about 45 pounds since having my twins in July of 2007. So, I'm just here for advice and support!

Hi Sheri, you can do it! :) If you're new to hypothyroidism here are a few things I've learned the hard way, heh:

1. Get your T3/T4 levels checked quarterly.

2. Take your medication (presumably some sort of synthetic thyroid hormone) at the same time every day if possible. Don't take with iron, iron neutralizes the hormone. And don't eat for at least an hour after taking your meds.

3. Take your meds EVERY DAY. Don't skip a day and don't let yourself run out or forget to pack it when you go on vacation. Consistency is important.

Thanks for the advice! I've been dealing the being hypo for years now, it was just under control and I no longer needed meds for a few years, but for some reason, the pregnancy with the twins brought it back on. I'm on Synthroid right now. I'm still have problems losing weight though. Ughhh!!!
