100+ lbs (45.5+ kg) weight loss. I NEED HELP!!?

  • I am 18. I am from Alaska, USA , but for now, I live in Tunisia, North Africa. I need help losing weight. I don't have much of a plan. Im looking for support, and help to develop a plan. Here is my information:

Starting Weight: Last I weighed (in July), I was 142Kg (313lb)

Current Weight: I have no idea, but I'm sure its more

Goal Weight: Overall goal: under 200. Mini goals: under 300, 275, 250, 225

    Height: 160cm (5'3")

I just got married, just moved to North Africa for a year, I'm addicted to food. I can't stop eating even after my stomach hurts from being too full. I turn to food for everything. I want to lose weight, but I feel helpless because my desire to eat is so much stronger than my desire to lose weight. I have a mild form of muscular dystrophy, so my muscles are abnormally weak. I live in a muslim country, were its considered inappropriate for a woman to be out running, and there are no gyms to go to. I have to do this purely on my own, in my own home. No swimming pools, no gym equipment, no weights, no scales. Nothing of this sort is available to me until I return to the USA next fall.

Is there anyone willing to help me?
  • Hi
You are in the perfect place to achieve your goals. This website is filled with wonderfully warm and supportive friends who are hear to help and listen.

I lost over 100 pounds in 9 months using the Atkins diet. I didn't go to the gym and I didn't run. I just walked. I started 15 minutes a day and worked my way up. I now walk 1 hour 2 - 3 times a day. It does't cost anything and you can do it anywhere. Around the block, around the house, even up and down your stairs.

Atkins is very healthy and it works if you stick to it. You can eat meat, eggs, cheese, as long as u stay under 20 carbs a day, you don't have to starve yourself. I hope you might look into that diet, it worked wonders for me.

After a difficult break up, I gained some wait back, so I can understand eating to make yourself feel better. If you are looking for a diet buddy, I'd love to help you with that.

Good luck, you can do this!!!!
  • Yes you can lose weight even without all the fancy stuff You can dance around your house, do workout videos, jump rope, sit ups, clean the house, jumping jacks, etc. There is a lot of stuff to do at home
First, coming here is a GREAT start. I love coming to a place where no one judges you, and everyone actually understand what you mean. We all have the same goal: losing weight and staying healthy. Plus, many of us are binge eaters. We understand how difficult this obsession and LOVE is. It is an everyday battle, but you can do it. If YOU want to lose weight, we will help you stay on track. One big thing is if you do bad.. don't stop posting because you're dissapointed with yourself.. keep posting! That is the most important time to post. If you write about your feelings its a possibility it will save you from your next binge.

There are many diets you can try. Its great to look around all the different diet forums and see how the diet is working for those chatters and see which one will work best for you. A book that is really great is The Fat Smash Diet. This diet is very helpful, its basically about healthy eating... it really helps you get a good start on your diet. Phase 1 is only 9 days and you usually lose 10 lbs. Try things! You can do it girl!

We believe in you! BTW Congrats on getting married!!
  • Welcome to 3FC!

You've got some obstacles to overcome, but you're not alone.

Shelley's idea of walking is a good one.
And as Jill said, there are lots of things you can do in the privacy of your own home. Have you got some music you can listen to while you work/house clean/etc? That can really get you into the mood for moving!

Whatever you do, remember that the choices you make are yours alone. Losing weight isn't easy for any of us, but we're all here to support one another. Please keep posting. Best wishes to you!
  • Thanks for your replys.. Im currently working on getting a PS2 and a few versions of Dance Dance Revolution.. Since I KNOW its fun AND good exercise.. But I dont expect having that for a few months atleast.. I just need fun ideas that will get my heart rate up, but wont tire me out too much... I have a VERY short attention span, and get bored quickly...
  • awlass... I know what you mean! I have a very short attention span to. I hate cleaning but when I think of it as exercise or something that will keep my mind busy.. it helps! I personally walk everyday, but I also try to fit in other home exercises, I get up and strecth for about 10 minutes every morning.. it feels good. Dance dance revolution sounds great! I've been thinking of getting Wii Fit. Another thing that helps is 'fidgeting' lol weird right? But I always read it in various magazines... moving around, bobbing your head, swaying your hips, tapping your foot, any type of moving helps!
