Wedding Dress......
I'm 27 and looking at getting married in a few months. I'm also 397 lbs, at the current moment. I've got the dress, and I don't have to lose weight to get into it, it fits perfectly --- the big thing I want to be able to do is to look awesome, not flabby and unattractive like I do now in it.
At the same time, I'd like to start my married life healthier, and continue down the path to weight loss and health with my husband to be. He's diabetic and trying to keep his weight under control as well. I think the biggest obstacle I have is my boredom -- I eat when I'm bored, and I can't seem to break myself of this. I've even taken to fiddling with scrapbooking and such to keep my fingers occupied and I'm still drawn to the fridge. I need help, and some encouragement. My fiance is great as far as supporting me, but not so great on helping with the diet. Thanks, ~Sarah |
Sarah, welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! :welcome3:
Do you think you're really bored, or is it that you just can't take your mind off food, regardless of what you're doing? (that's a problem for me) When you do go to the fridge, what are you eating? Could you start out by making some substitutions in your choices? Are you getting in any exercise, or planning on starting? Walking is something my husband and I love to do together. We have great conversations, and we feel so good afterwards. We have a 300+ group here, and many other groups that you're welcome to join. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=124 Please jump in anywhere you feel comfortable, and congratulations on your decision to make changes in your life! |
WELCOME SARAH!!! The ladies here are amazing, they really make you feel like it's possible to lose the weight. I have the same problem with boredom eating and what I try to do is keep things in the fridge that you won't feel bad about eating when I'm done. Cucumbers, fruit, carrots, light popcorn.....that kind of thing!!! Good Luck on your journey!!!!!

Hello Sarah,
Congratulations on taking that next step with tour mate and taking steps towards a healthy self aware life!! :D The boredom eating thing is a toughy. Good Luck breaking that one. Ellis said to go for better choices and I think that's a great idea. You could also try to journal when you are eating and why to help you understand it better. Then when you feel a certain way that makes you want to go have a snack when you don't really want to you can try to break that habit by thinking it out and seeing what feelings trigger it or by going for a walk to clear your head. Could be stress eating at you. (That's what gets me.) I don't know your situation, but I'm sure you'll figure it out along the way. ;) |
I often find myself in front of the refrigerator when I am bored. It helps to eat more often.
I eat something about every 3 hours, breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. I keep the snacks low calorie 100 calories or less, such as non fat yogurt, sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, Laughing Cow Light Cheese Wedge, apple, orange as an example. Planning is the key. i |
I also eat when I'm bored. I'm starting a new tactic where I say out loud "I'm not hungry and I am going to eat this <insert food> because I am bored/sad/etc" I hope this will help me eat more mindfully.
