:welcome3:

There are many subforums here at 3FC regarding the different approaches to weight loss. Take a look around and see if anything catches your interest.

Personally I do calorie counting so come on down to the CC subforum if you'd like. :)

Any suggestions? We're 3FC members, of course we have suggestions! :)

You'll do it the same way everyone else does: One day at a time.

Do you see any programs under Diet Central that appeal to you? Any that you think "Hey I can see myself using this program for the long-haul"?

Do you drink water? If not, start now.

Do you like any sort of physical activity? Do you like walks? Play a sport? Start small & build up!

You can do this!!! :cheer3:

Find a program that isn't so restrictive and that you can incorporate into your lifestyle all the time, weekends, parties, out to dinner, at home, at work. I do Weight Watchers, and it has been easy for me to do this.

:welcome: back, scalewatcher. I wasn't here when you were here last. I only started (again) last month.

I say again because this is not the first time I've tried to lose weight. This time is different though - mainly in my attitude toward the weightloss effort.

There are now two books I recommend to anyone starting a new diet, no matter what diet you choose. The first is YOU on a Diet. It explains in very easy to understand language all the physiology behind appetite and weight control.

The second book is The Beck Diet Solution. I only just discovered it and I especially recommend it if you've been on and off diets many times in the past. It uncovers a lot of the self-sabotaging thought process we have about our bodies and provides tools to fight back against those self-destructive thought patterns.

It doesn't matter if you use The YOU Diet or some other. And you can take whatever you find in Beck's book and apply it to any plan. I'm confident that you will be more successful armed with the information in these two books.

One last piece of advice: check in here daily. I find it a great mood lifter. Pay special attention to any NSV's reported and make sure to post your own. Find someone out in the physical world that you trust and tell them you're planning this effort. Don't hide it. The more you share it with people, the easier it will be to stick to the plan.

(Faerie was so right about us chicks being full of advice. Bear in mind that the reason we have this great advice is because someone gave it to us when we needed it.)

May you find the strength you need to persevere.

I am 51 years old. I have four children and 10 grandchildren. I have been on many diets in my adult life "low carb, low fat, Medifast, SS, Atkins and WW" and have lost alot of weight on all of them. My problem is that I just put it back on over and over. I have lots of health issues and I'm disable. I know that I can lose weight, but exercise is a little more difficult for me than before. I thank all of you for your suggestions and I will keep trying. I am going to try just counting calories.:)
