New girl on the Bllock for real this time!!

  • Hi everyone! I am truly here now. I signed up for an account soooooo long ago and I am now finally putting it to good use. My head is in the game. I recently attended my 20th year high school reunion and was devastated after I reviewed the pictures of how big I have gotten. I mean small head and gi-normous body. I didn't even weigh this much pregnant. Oh poo!! I am glad that I am here now and after a week on my own I did do a WI this morning and I am down 1.5. I was pleased. So here we go! Tips, supoort, or whatever you think of in my journey is highly appreciated.
  • Hey DeltaGirl!

Sounds like you are off to a great start. We have groups here by age range (30-somethings, yes, if you just attended your 20th reunion?), by eating plan, and by almost anything else you can imagine, so look around. You also might want to visit the 100 lb club, our incredible, active, fabulous group of those who have lost or are on their way to losing 100 lbs or more.

I'm glad you returned to us, and can't wait to get to know you better!
  • Deltagurl, welcome for real this time! I just started a blog and that has been helping keep me honest. I like reading some of the other ones too in case they have heard of other new foods or any tips. Check out the hungry girl website. They have a great list of foods to shop for at the grocery store that will help keep you on the path of weight loss. I just had my ten-year reunion and lost 23 pounds, thank goodness, in time for it. I have lost about 12 more and am nearing my goal. I already have a new goal for when I reach that one.

I think it is best to pick a plan. I have tried to do the "just eating healthier and working out four or five times a week" thing, and that, for me, doesn't work. I am doing WW, and it is very easy for me to stick with. I am smaller than I have been in about eight years, and I feel so strong! I also thing writing down what you eat everyday helps keep you honest, which you can do in a blog as well. In fact, that is all some people write about in their blogs. I have a little moleskin that helps me keep track. I write down how much I weigh every morning, the date, what exercise I did that day, and what I eat. Lately I have been looking at when I started all of this, April 2008, and it is crazy to see how much progress I've made. I never thought I would hit my pre-pregnancy weight again, or what I weighed when I graduated high school. Good luck to you!
  • Welcome and good luck.
  • Welcome! I'm sure you look much better than your description but you did make me smile! Congrats on the weight loss...keep on keepin on...
  • ! And hey, down 1.5 is not too shabby! Keep up the good work!
  • Thanks to each of you for your words of encouragement. I did have some street food today and I have to say I did very well. I was able to go the Applebees and not eat the whole sampler. Matter of fact did not even order a sampler. I ordered a grilled shrimp salad with spinach. OMG!!! It was sooooo good. I watched my kids eat dessert. (they got dad's hi metabolism gene). But I behaved. I can't wait to just drop 10 pounds. I walked 2 miles yesterday and 1 mile on Friday. I know that I probably should have a rest day, but right now, I need to walk everyday!!!

    Smooches!
    Chat with ya next week!!
