Bringing climbing numbers to a halt

Growing up, I was kinda the usual kid activity wise, I was on swimming-teams, played soccer, rode my bike, all the good stuff. I had a pretty bad bike wreck in 6th grade, and my activity went down from there. My mom always had the whole "finish what's on your plate" rule as opposed to stopping when I'm not hungry anymore. I got very lazy as time went on, getting my own jobs opened doors to eating out more, too. I was on depo-provera (the birth control shot) for about 4 years, which I'm pretty sure attributed to a big part of my weight, but I don't blame all of it on the shot. It was about a lack of self-control and lack of willingness to do anything about it.

I was getting so tired of having to shop in the plus-size sections all the time at a young age and decided to put an end to it. My mother has been doing the weightwatchers program and she looks GREAT, so I decided to give it a whirl.

I've only been on it for 3 weeks but I've lost almost 14lbs to date :D The sudden change in dietary lifestyle was kind of a shock but 3 weeks into it, I'm pretty used to it. I'm starting to try to fit some exercise in and I'm enjoying it. I always thought it'd be a drag but just -knowing- I'm eating better already makes me feel better. I know that its not really so much a diet as a complete lifestyle change. I will have to engage this self-control for the rest of my life but you know what? I feel really good about that.

So...I'm 19, started the program at 284.6lbs, I'm down now to 270.8lbs. I'm looking for some friends and support along the way and to support others as well!

Hi, Xeno! I'm another newbie, but I just wanted to congratulate you on starting young and choosing a good program and seeing the "big picture" if you'll pardon the expression, instead of going on a crash diet.

:carrot:Much luck to you!
Tera
