Another newbie here!

Good morning everyone. My name is Kristan and I would be delighted to join y'all's forum. I am 25 and married with no kids, unless you count a wild dog named Kosmo that's as rambunctious as any 2 year old boy.

I have had low self esteem and poor body image for quite some time now. I am trying to lose about 20 lbs, which I've done in the past (I've gotten down to 130) but I still can't learn to love myself. You'd think that when you get down to goal weight, you'd be happy, but it's not always the case. :( Anyways, when I got down to goal I got a little too comfortable with maintaining and "all of a sudden" I was gaining the weight back. I made a poor attempt to stop it because the food all tasted so good and I forgot all the things I learned while losing weight the first time.

Speaking of the "first time", I lost my weight on Weight Watchers, which I have a love/hate relationship with. I know that program pretty well and when I follow it religiously I lose weight so easily. Sounds great, right? Well, for some reason I always manage to sabotage myself. I still plan on continuing with WW, though. I know that when I just do the right thing and stop making excuses that the weight will come off. I'm just being lazy right now.

I am hoping to motivate myself by reading this forum and learning of everyone's successes and saying to myself "I can do that!". That's how it happened the first time on the WW message boards, which are great, but I know so many people there and I am embarrassed to go back and show them what I've done to myself. And sometimes I feel like I just need a fresh start.

So, thanks for reading and sorry it was sort of a ramble. I'm honored to be a part of the forum and can't wait to get to know everyone. I wish y'all all continued success with y'all's weight loss journeys!

Hi KristanAnne!

:wel3fc:

I'm a fellow WWer. You'll find a bunch of us down under the WW section (under Diet Central). You might also enjoy the 20-somethings area. Stick around. Post. Let us know about your progress. You can do this!

Best of success!

Welcome and good luck!
I know all about Sabatoge.. every time I got around 200 pounds I would just all of a sudden want to eat all the crap I could see..
I haven't been thin for so long I think subconciously I was afraid of it.
It was after I got under 180 when I started to deal with that. Now I am excited when I hit a new number. Bye bye bad cravings!

Losing weight only changes the outside of you.. so if you are only sad about how round you are, it isn't gonna get better unless you heal yourself on the inside. I am an emotional eater when I am stressed I liked to stuff my face. So I really had to deal with the fact that food is meant to substain me.. not make me feel better. That is for me to to do. So I found other ways to vent my stress (like exercise) and if I am really sad or upset I talk to someone. I learned I couldn't deal with it on my own.

Affirmations I believe work as well. Tell yourself in the mirror that "I am beautiful and I am worth it" It is like reprograming yourself to feel good about yourself. As the days go by you will really notice a difference. If you think you need more help than this then Maybe you should talk to your doctor about antidepressants..or tell him how you are feeling. They don't work for everyone but it might help you.. or find a therapist. If you need help healing the inside there is nothing wrong with that.

Good luck! You are beautiful and worth it!

Thanks again, everyone!

JonsGurl, you're absolutely right. I eat when I am emotional (any emotion!) and I need to get it in my head that food is fuel for my physical well being, NOT my mental well being. I actually have gone the anti-depressant/therapist route as well, but it is still great advice for anyone else reading this that may be going through the same thing. By the way, WAY TO GO on your amazing stats!! :)
