Getting married - 30 weeks to lose 54lbs

Hello all ;)

My lovely boyfriend has recently proposed...and we have set the date for 7th March 2009.
I am currently 54lbs overweight and intend to lose this excess flab before my wedding as I really don't want to be a chubby bride.
I thought I would use this great site to keep a diary of my weight loss progress because I need all the encouragement I can possibly get.

I am aiming to lose two pounds a week and am following a low fat, low sugar diet.

love Boo x

:welcome3: I too will be getting married next year, been engaged since May of this year. I know where you are coming from with loosing weight as a bride to be. That's why I'm here too. I have found out that you don't always loose 2lbs a week, sometimes I've hit a plateau, but you have to motivate yourself to keep going on. Good luck on your loosing journey:crossed:

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the boards! This site is great for support

Welcome and good luck! I think your goal is doable, however , you might not lose 2 pounds every week, you may lose more some weeks and some weeks you will lose less. Include exercise with your diet plan and your weight loss efforts will be more effective,

Eee! I'm getting married a week after you are! 3.14.09... Yay for March Brides :)

My goal is a little more stiffer than yours, but, I am also a much higher weight. My goal is to get down to 200, which means a bit more than 70 pounds to lose.

It seems like we're similar a bit...

DeliciousBoo 08-06-2008 10:31 AM

Thank you all for your warm wishes.

I am aiming for 2lbs per week but I know things don't always work out like that. But today (as it's day one) I am full of motivation and optimisim. I know that doesn't always hang around too.

Yay Naytally another March bride...fabulous!! Good luck on your weight loss...you have done great so far losing 33 lbs. How are you doing it?

Bargoo...WOW! What a fabulous weight loss...have you got any inspirational pictures? Well done you. X X

It does seem like a really fabulous site Matilda, I am glad to be here. X X

Congrats with your wedding Boop, you have already made great headway into your goal. Have you chosen your dress yet?

I'm calorie counting (1700 a day) along with macronutrient planning (20% calories from fat, 30-40% calories from Protein and 30-40% calories from carbs) also doing a lot of fiber (around 35 to 50 grams a day) along with strength training exercises and a lot of cardio (about 5x a week for 20 to 60 minutes depending on my schedule). I would have been down a lot more from the begining of the year, but I slacked off for about a month or two and gained about 15 back, but I am down past that again and at my all time low for the last 6 years (272). I'm steady losing about 3 - 5 lbs a week doing what I'm doing now. Also , I swear by this... WATER! I don't drink any other drinks but water. I do about 130 oz a day (1/2 body weight in ounces) but for you, you'd want to drink about 100 oz or so.

I'm also taking a couple of supplements - Multi vitamin, total control, cell activator and cell-u-loss, all by herbalife. Those supplements help me get through the day, and they have helped to even out my food schedule.

Congrats!
A wedding is great motivation to lose weight. I agree with everyone. Keep track of every thing you eat and your work outs and you should do fine. Welcome to the site! :welcome:

Naytally- Your avatar made me die laughing. I'll never be able to listen to that song the same way again.

Thanks! I haven't chosen a dress yet. I want to loose a lot more weight before I actually do so that I don't get it altered 100 times before the final fitting. I'm thinking of shopping for it in Jan/Feb. Have you gotten your dress?

DeliciousBoo 08-07-2008 06:15 AM

Like you Boop I want to lose a fair few pounds before I pick my dress -so I am aiming for frock shopping in December....I can't wait....yay!

Today is day one!
I have started following an eight week healthy eating and exercise plan.
If I think about having to lose four stone (54lbs), it will overwhelm me and I will think "What's the point, I can't lose that much weight." So I will take a few weeks and a few pounds at a time and see how I get on.

Start weight: 13st 12lbs (194 lbs)

Today the plan is:

7am - 30 min dog walk

8am - 6 prunes (in juice not syrup)
oatmeal and soya milk

10.30ish - handful of pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

Lunch - lean pork casserole, carrots, green beans.

3.30ish - low fat/sugar free banana milk shake

5.30pm - 30 min cycle

6.30pm - tuna & butterbean salad

9pm - fresh peach and an apple
..............................................
I am crossing my fingers that I can ride out my 7pm sugar cravings...that is definately my usual moment of weakness. :dizzy:

DAY 2
Food & exercise plan

B/fast - porridge with tablespoon of fresh raspberries
10am - 30 min dog walk
Snack - 10 mixed nuts (not peanuts)
Lunch - Mackeral on a bed of watercress and spinach and a wholemeal pitta bread
Snack - apple & sm bunch of grapes
5pm(ish) - 30 min bike ride
7pm - Salmon, new potatoes and ***.veg. (I am eating out at a restraurant tonight but have planned ahead with what I intend to have off the menu.)

I have been drinking two litres of water each day...I am peeing like a race horse...but feel a lot more energetic. :carrot:

DeliciousBoo 08-08-2008 08:50 AM

I took my measurements today as another record of my weight loss acheivement for the future...they are a disgusting 46-37-46.

The only positive...I am an hourglass shape but WOW what a big hourglass.
Ah well...today is the last day I will be that big...I will get slimmer a little bit everyday from here on in.;)

missbrandi808 08-08-2008 08:20 PM

Congratulations! 6 months away to your wedding huh? That's great!. Your goal seems very reasonable and I know you'll make it. Good luck on your journeys..both of them!

DeliciousBoo 08-09-2008 04:38 AM

I'm in the same boat as you deliciousboo.
Getting Married May 2nd and I want to lose between 40 and 60.
I like to think of my engagement ring as a reminder and motivation toward my goal lol.

bananapancakes 08-09-2008 10:05 AM

Huge congrats on your engagement! I wish you lot's of self discipline and motivation. I look forward to seeing your thin self in your wedding pics. Have you taken before pics?

I just found out I'll be the Maid of Honor in a wedding in April or May so I know that a wedding can be great motivation, I will be at goal by then but, I plan to have nice toned arms by then.
