Dallas-ite getting fit!

Hi, I'm new. I'm a 21 year old living in Dallas who needs a little support. As probably many of you, I've been trying lose the weight um....forever? My family CONSTANTLY pushes and tells me how great I WOULD look which is great because they're enthusiastic but just made me feel like a failure and I'm not doing this to please them.
I'm doing this because I recently became an avid jogger again and I'm training for a 10K. The results are slowly but surely showing. I'm 5 ft 2 and 150 lb. I'm a size 10 in jeans and unfortunately, very curvy. Big boobs, butt, and hips. Last summer, I dropped to 145 and was a size 8 so I know it's possible. I know I'll never be 120 which is what the last chart I consulted said I should be. But I think 130-135 is a great goal.
The reason I need support is because I live away from my family now but my oh-so loving boyfriend loooooves my curves and will do anything to keep them. He is...of all things...a cook. I no longer allow him to cook his Southern -style cooking for me and we eat vegetarian as often as possible. He lets me do my thing with my low-fat diet and exercise but he hits me right in the sweet tooth as often as possible. My willpower sucks.
I will do this! Some support couldn't hurt though.

hi Levie -- that's great that your man loves YOU (and how cool that he's a cook?!), but you might want to point out to him that if he wants you be around and healthy to be with him a looooong time.... it'd be much better for you to lose some weight! And I bet you won't lose all your curves; some people are just curvy!!
Take care, and good luck!

Hi, levie. another Dallasite here.

Of all the weight loss support groups I've visited on the web, this is the best.

Hey! I'm also in Dallas ... been here most of my life. Moving to Louisiana next week though. Welcome! This is a great forum.

And Dallas is a tough city to be overweight in. I am about the same height/weight as you (okay, a bit more in weight right now) and I swear the skinny SMU girls make you feel like you are twice your own size. But I've been there, worked out in that gym, and looked much better at 145 than many of them can ever think of looking at 105.

It's all about HEALTH and BALANCE and ENJOYMENT ... not what the scale says or if you can get perfect 6 pack. Don't let this materialistic city get the best of you.
