I don't know where to begin...
Hi,
How's everyone doing? I'm ready to lose this darn weight, but can't seem to find the motivation. I've tried every diet known to man...South Beach, Fat Flush, Atkins, YOU:on a diet (which actually worked for a little while), and my latest approach is The Eat-Clean Diet. Even if I replace the word DIET with the term Way Of Eating (WOE)...I'm still stuck!! I am a flight attendant and this means I must eat out more than the average person. I do carry a LOT of food with me, but it's easy to get really sick of the same portable foods very quickly. There is constant temptation on the airplane with all kinds of junk food sitting around...and since I fly mostly lnternational long hauls...there are lot's of long hours to fill. I recently went 8 weeks of a very strict, portion controlled plan. I ate every 4 hours...small meals...no junk. At first I was losing about a pound a week. But then progress reversed itself and I ended up gaining a couple pounds back. I also worked out consistantly during this time. So what the...??? Anyway, it was soooo discouraging that I completely fell off the wagon. Binge eating into the wee hours and barely working out. I know, I know.... I've been home for 2 weeks and I'm getting ready to head out on a 2 week trip that will have me mostly in Germany. I want soooo badly to get back on track, not only to lose weight...but because I'm feeling YUCKY. But I feel so discouraged. I guess that's why I've joined. I really, really, really need some suppport and encouragement. I find myself unable to lift myself up this time. Any words would be appreciated. :^: |
Hi Anais, welcome to 3fc :D
Don't really have any major words of wisdom I'm afraid! Perhaps you could try by making smaller changes and adding in a new change each week so that eventually you've done a complete u-turn eating wise thats sustainable for the long haul? Not sure about the reverse in weight but I guess the mindset is to try not to get discouraged. I'm sure we didn't gain our weight by consistently gaining every single week, so guess we won't lose it by consistently losing each week either. Your use of WOE did make me chuckle though (in a woe is me sense) :) |
:welcome: glad you found us

What an exciting career you have! :) You get to jet set all around the world! How awesome is that??? :D
Just want to welcome you to the site. No matter what weight loss plan you're on, you've come to the right place for support. So, log in often, ask questions, share, etc. I look forward to sharing stories with you. ;) |
Welcome and best wishes!
Welcome to 3FC!
You sound like you are a bit hard on yourself right now. Give yourself a lot of credit for getting started getting back on track. Just by reaching out you are starting the journey. You can take back control...and persist in those good habits you have done before. Keep coming back to the boards...there is a lot of encouragement here! |
Welcome....
Whats worked best for me is counting calories...."Diets" dont work for me as im such a fussy eater lol also...do the hotels you usually stay in inbetween flights have fitness centres or equipment in them? if so, utilise those and count calories....try fitday.com if u have regular access to a computer |
Hi, and :welcome: to 3FC
You mentioned going on an 8 week restricted plan. Are you allowing yourself enough food? Could you be setting yourself up for failure by placing too much of a restriction on yourself? Don't be so hard on yourself and get discouraged so easily. Well, you've come to a wonderful place to receive and give support. I'm sure you will find your way and do well. |
- stick with your diet.
- If you were losing, you should know that you're doing right things. There are lots of things that weight can gain a few back, such as: (example that you aren't OP) water, muscles gain, etc.... So unless you aren't losing for another 3-4+ months, then you shouldn't worry. But other than that, stick with your diet, and know in mind "i'm doing right things even if scale isn't showing". BTW, scale is just a tool, don't rely on it so much. Compair how fit your clothes are is a better way. Good luck with your journey :) |
Thanks ladies!
Yes, Aim there are what I call "gymettes" (little gyms)at the hotels I'm staying at. And I admit I sometimes let my workouts slide while out on a trip. This month I"m working every other day...16 hour days... BUT I don't see any good reason why I can't work out the days i'm not working and fortunately I'm flying with some gym buddies who are also trying to lose weight. Thanks for the fitday website...I'll check it out!! I've been checking out the calorie counter threads and have been curious. Although I was doing well for 8 weeks and then fell off the wagon...I'm back on board...AGAIN, (AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN...) (; I do find this forum helpful....and will keep all updated on my progress! I have lot's of healthy snacks with me and will do my darndest not to cheat when I'm jet lag'd!!! |
Yes it is the best way.
all u really need is one piece of cardio equiptment. my favorite of the cross trainer....or the treadmill if i put the incline up to 15 and walk at about 6.5kms an hour. it actually really gets the heart rate up, burns alot of calories and tones the legs fantastically |
