Where's the off switch?

Hi everyone -

I'm looking for the off switch. You know, the one that will curb my insatiable appetitie. I seem to have misplaced it. I'm offering a large reward for its safe return.

I am a 53 year old assertive, stubborn, hyperactive, thrill-seeking, self deprecating, type A, who uses food as a substitute for just about everything. I am hopeful that with the aid of this journal, this website, and you folks, I can learn to use food to nourish my body, not to quell my disappointments.

:welcome: jllaw. You've made the first step. The next is to figure out what your trigger foods and situations are and choose (by careful reading) exactly which WoE and exercise routine would best suit you and your lifestyle.

I chose low carb because...I faced it...I'm an 'empty carb' addict. I also chose a more aggressive form of exercise because it fit with my lifetime goals.

Good luck to you on your journey!

Welcome aboard! And I second Snapless - figuring out which foods trigger cravings and which woe is going to be the most followable one for you is the way forward.

For what it's worth, though - you CAN find an off switch! I still find that kind of amazing, but it really is the case!

Hi, Welcome, you're off to a good start. Deciding to do something is the first step. Deciding WHAT to do is the second, and doing it is the third! Have you decided what kind of changes you're going to make in your lifestyle? I found that writting everything down helped me a lot. Almost any diet works, if you can find one that you can stay on.

Ok, that said, i post on the 50+ section. Lots of nice, supportive people there who are struggeling to lose the weight and, like me, to maintain the loss. Come on over and check us out.
