3 Fat Chicks on a Diet Weight Loss Community - Hi there. Looking for... support!

Hey there. I'm Exalya (aka Syd). I'm a senior college student from Texas studying to be a pathologist, married to a wonderful guy who just got back from Iraq and out of the army last month--we've been married one year, and only together for 4 months of that, so it's exciting.

What's not so exciting is how it's been difficult for me to lose weight. I was always chubby as a kid and my not-so-nice and critical mother used to call me fat, point out every flaw, and put me on crash diets (living proof that these do not work!). However, I got down to my ideal weight about a year and a half ago, even if I didn't know it. I still thought I was fat, and after getting tossed out of the house and then getting married and then having the husband get sent to war... I gained 30 pounds. The only upside to that is that I realized that 30 pounds ago I looked wonderful! The downside... trying to lose that weight. I've been trying off and on for months to lose it to no avail, mostly because of the stress of the deployment. Now my husband is back and my life is turning around, so I'm ready to make a new start. That's why I came here... hoping for some support along the way to keep me on track. I've lost weight before and I know I can do it again if I can stay focused on what worked in the past. My plan: Counting calories, eliminating sweets, and enjoying my favorite exercise, swimming.
