New today, feeling hopeless...

I've been in a rut for so long! I feel myself getting bigger and bigger and feel like there is no way out. I truly honestly feel like I can not control my eating. I am praying for a different mind set, and hope that joining a supportive community might help me out of this seemingly bottomless pit :(

Hey there, New as well!!! You can do this one step at a time! We should try to check in everyday and maybe start a new thread? If you feel overwhelmed, it might be best to start on one change at a time. You might try to pick *one* lifestyle change that you think you can manage, and make it a habit before moving on to the next. I did that -- I started out by just taking my supplements of choice every day. Then I added drinking more fluids. I had a number of small successes under my belt before I ever actually cut back on calories.

If you want to try that approach, there's a support thread you might check out (21-Day challenge): http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=142563

Hello Nikki! I am your same height, and starting weight..and i'm down 23 lbs so far..I know what's like to feel hopeless, and discouraged..but DON'T BE! you obviously want to change and that's what it takes to change your mind set. You didn't get that way over night, so always remember that it's going to take time. Just start with baby steps- watch portion sizes, maybe join a gym (I myself LOVE Curves) and you'll start to notice a difference soon. You're not alone and you do have the strength to do this! I wish you luck:-)

Hi Nikki, Yes, I feel your pain, I think we all know the feeling of being in a rut. If I might make one suggestion until you decide on a plan. My first decision was to only eat when I was hungry. It sounds so obvious, but it was (and is) the best and hardest thing I do each day. Then learning to deal with whatever I was using food to medicate, is the close second step - equally difficult and rewarding.

I wish you the best success and hope to be able to encourage you often.
