Back again...ready for a change

  • Hi gals! It's been a while since I've been here last, but now that I'm on a school summer break and working part-time instead of full-time, my schedule is allowing more time to gradually start a healthy eating/exercise program again I'm 50 years old (51 in Oct), on a summer break from taking pre-reqs for nursing school, and working part-time as a transcriptionist for cardiac/thoracic surgeons. I have alternating mornings and afternoons free, so I'll be starting fun exercise programs at my gym (I haven't been in a year!) and have dusted off my recipe books while collecting new ones on this site.

I'm excited to be back; I have about 75 lbs. to lose (currently at 225), and know I have to take it one day at a time...geez, even one MEAL at a time! I'm a emotional eater, but now with my major stress (school) being out of the way for a while, I'm hoping to have better control of my eating habits and will make a conscious effort to think before I eat!

Wish me luck, ladies. I love to read all the posts here, everyone is so supportive and encouraging!

    Juliana

  • One moment at a time... a wonderful way to look at things. Keeps everything from being too overwhelming.

    You can do this!

    Best of success!
  • Welcome back Juliana !
  • Welcome Back, JULIANA . . . hope you'll make some time to drop in on the Age 50+ Forum now that you've made it to "that certain age". You are on the right track, there Chickie -- one meal at a time and never forget that it was the tortoise that finally won the race.
  • Thank you, Faerie, Sunnya and meowee! I will definitely drop in on the 50+ forum.

"...and never forget that it was the tortoise that finally won the race." I love this, and I'll refer back to it time and again for support I've already walked my dog and am off to the gym now for a salsa aerobics class! (watch me shimmy out of here...lol)
