Brand New to 3fc

Hi i'm brand new and up way past my bed time but i wanted to introduce myself. I am at about 190 lbs am a member of Curves and have decided it's time to start addressing my eating more intentionally than i have been. I've started keeping a food journal off and on and am not looking for a drastic diet, rather i am looking to gradually improve my eating habits from unconsious eat whatever whenever to more mindful, reasonable portions and healthier foods generally. My experience with curves is that when i go 3x a week and work to keep my heartrate up i see results. The problem is getting myself there consistently. I've joinedd 3fcs because i'm hoping to find a forum for sharing my journey and because i hope to find a buddy or 2 that i can report to as a way of keeping me on track. I've done a lot of reading of different approaches over the years and know that tho i need to become more structured and intentional in my approac to food i also need to be patient and flexible with myself. After seeing some of the books reviewed on this website i looked them up at my local library and have placed holds on several. An example of my style: "Secrets of the lean plate club" Slow and steady like my Avatar turtle. Except turtles probably move much faster in the water than they do on land. You get the general idea though;)

So i'm here and so grateful for this website, its resources and all the support.

Thanks, Ailey60

Hi there Ailey!

:wel3fc:

You certainly have a healthy approach planned out to eating better and exercising. Congrats on already having an exercise plan, btw. That is so difficult for many people to achieve.

Keeping a food journal to monitor amount and type of foods eaten is a great tool. I hope you're able to find the right combination of tools for yourself.

Have a look around, post where you're comfortable, and, of course, best of success!

You can do this!

thanks for the welcome

Faerie and Moon moon-

Thanks for your welcomes. As far as my eating and exercise plan go i think that yes i do have a decent plan. The hard part for me is sticking with it for any period of time. I get distracted, bored, my overweightness slips off my radar, i get frustrated and give up for a time, etc. etc. etc.

The good news for me is that i do have a couple recent examples in other areas of my life to inform and encourage me. In those two situations i've found that by sticking w/ the thing over time i've made observable progress. For me this process ends up being one of starting out focused and intense, then getting bored or discouraged or distracted and meandering off somewhere else for a while and then coming back to the thing i'm trying to accomplish and maybe passing thru those phases again and again. Until one day months later i realize "Hey" i remember to take my canvas bags into the store more often than i don't and into all kinds of stores-whoohoo!! I finally got it!! Or, as with our 11 month old puppy, after months of sometimes more focused training, and sometimes not as focused training, i see that we have a pretty well behaved and happy dog whom we will be and should be working with for her whole life. We're all better trained than at the start.

Is this the kind of stuff i should be putting in a diet blog? I guess i'm posting here because i'm hoping to be recognized by someone as someone who wants to give and receive support and be part of a community of women who are striving to develop healthy eating and exercise habits as they let go of unhealthy weight.

Well thanks for reading.
