I'm really so glad I found this community. It's exactly what I was looking for!
My weight gain began pretty slowly when I graduated from high school in 2004. I met my now-husband and ever since then we were doing a lot of eating out together and no exercising -- we BOTH are now at the highest weights we've ever been.
My ideal weight is about 140, and I'm right now at 162. Two months ago I was at 170, and I did manage to lose a little bit, by eating healthy and cutting out fast food and things like that. My weak spot isn't sweets -- it's salts!
I always get unmotivated and 'give in.' I'm an ALL OR NOTHING type of girl. I can't just go slowly... if I eat some french fries, I'll cave and go nuts and forget the entire diet! I am entering this with a new perspective realizing that I am starting a new lifestyle, not a temporary solution. I need to begin eating better slowly, and make a small goal of walking every day. Currently I do absolutely nothing, so I think walking is a good starting point! Just getting out there is important.
I'm done rambling on now... I really only wanted to say hello and how inspired I have been by some of the posts here already.

MEG . . . glad you found us. Sounds like you are on the right track, Chickie -- recognizing that you have to make a permanent, life-style change is half the battle.
