Where to begin?! aka, i'm new here.

Let me start off by telling you that I am seventeen years old, almost 5'6" and 230 pounds...sounds terrible, I know. It definately can't be good for me. I came across this site in hope to find someone, or a group of people, who are dealing with the same thing. I need to lose weight, I don't want to be at risk for all these terrifing diseases and things that are caused by obesity. I also do not want to affect my future family's health.

Like the title says; Where do I begin?

Hi Mini!

You already began, by making a decision to change. Now, you need to implement. I would start with several changes every week. For instance, you can decide that you will cut out soda and walk half a mile a day. While you make these changes from week to week, decide which diet plan you like. Do you think counting calories would work best? South Beach? Weight Watchers? Then, find the forum on this website and check it out. They each have lots of good info under the Sticky. Stay positive and remember: be consistent. Read previous posts...you will find ones you can relate to and you won't feel alone in your journey.

This is a great place to get inspired and give/get support.

I wish you luck in your journey.
